Elite 3683 Whispering Pines, North Carolina | Subject: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I raced the half last year and had a great time at a great race. Part of the reason I signed up for the full this year. Looking forward to racing and possibly meeting a few of you out there. Who's in? |

Veteran 458 Greensburg, PA | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I also raced the Half last year and just signed up for the Full this year. I am kinda freaked out about it because it will be my first Full, but I am excited. I loved the race last year and am looking forward to doing the Full this year. Who has done the Full? Karen |

Extreme Veteran 356 Orlando, Florida | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I'm in for the Full, though I haven't signed up yet. I am from GA and also am friends with Neil. I DNF'd this race in 2009 (at mile 20 on the run), so this is my second chance at finishing my first iron distance race. I am really looking forward to it |

18 | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I did the full last year and it was an awesome experience. The in coming tide made the swim nice- most folks finished under an hour. The bike and run couses were stupendous. The weather in Willmington was perfect too which was big plus. This race is very well supported and run by Setup Events.Oh and the great white is simply a good insetive to swim at the front of the pack! Edited by Nook 2013-01-24 6:27 AM |

Expert 1706 NoVA | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Woah missed this thread!! Buddy I know from work and I are both in for the full. It will be his first full and my 2nd time at B2B (2009). I feel like I have some unfinished business down there after '09.
I know there have been some course changes from when I did this race in '09 but still pretty familiar with the lay of the land. Feel free to ask/post any questions you may have and I'll do my best to answer them! This is a great race---gotta say I'm already pretty excited about it!! |

Master 2490 Atlanta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I'm pretty sure I'll be there to race either the full or the half..we'll see how training goes the next few months. I'm another one of those folks who keep coming back to B2B - this would be my sixth year(which is every year it's been held, lol) for either the full of the half. I just can't find another late season long course race I'd rather do.. Small things about the course have changed over the years, including that we no longer go to the battleship but the essence of B2B is intact: a (usually) fast swim/flat-ish bike w/some wind and cool temps/town that is quite supportive of the race. I predict everyone has a great time... Best of luck with your training. |

Extreme Veteran 872 Tx | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I have the IM bug and this is the race I'm going to try to make a run at. I've only ever done 2 sprints and a HIM... so I'm gonna ramp up my training over the next few months and, if I feel good about it, then I will pull the trigger on signing up probably around May. It's both scary and exciting just thinking about it! |

Expert 1706 NoVA | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Lots of options at lots of different prices!! You have to decide if you want to be "downtown" in Wilmington or at the beach (Wrightsville Beach) or some place else... With a wife and baby it might be nice to be at the beach BUT on race day that gives the wife less of an option with the baby for being downtown on the course. When I did this race last time (and staying there again) I was solo and stayed "some place else"---as in it wasn't downtown or at the beach but kinda in the middle---worked out well and lots of other racers there also.... I'm sure we can point you in the right direction with specific spots if you pick a general downtown, beach, someplace else.... |

Veteran 209 Northern Ohio | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Hello all My name is Tom. I took a shot at my first full distance in Louisville in August 2012 and was quite shocked at how Challenging this race was. I DNF'd although I finished the swim and bike but came into T2 1 minute and 23 seconds too late so they would not let me run. I was devastated because I started the swim at 7:21 AM which cut 21 minutes off my total time to finish which is how the time-trial start works in Louisville. How ever many minutes you start after 7AM gets deducted from 17 hours. I have always been interested in B2B and thought this year I'd try it for my first IM distance. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Tom |

Thanks Tom Tom - if your logs are currnet, best advice I have for you is to start getting some base training in. If you are going to do a 20-week plan for B2B, then the plan would start in June I think. I'd encourage you to be getting in about 8 hours of training a week right now if possible. |

Expert 1706 NoVA | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Yup the race ends downtown and the run course is mostly in that area also (so your wife could see you if she wanted to). I know people seem to like the race hotel right on the water... |

Master 2490 Atlanta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Just a head's up that d00d - BT'er who started this thread - ran Boston yesterday but is ok. Guy hasn't been home all that long from being deployed to Iraq and someone detonates a bomb while he's running a race. I'll say it again - thoughts to the families of people who were hurt but really glad d00d is OK. |

Champion 10550 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I just signed up for the full today. Wheeee! This will be my second IM distance after doing IMAZ in November last year. I've heard fantastic things about this race and will be bringing the hubby along with me to be my gear sherpa. One thing for sure is that I plan on following my training plan to a T. Stopping training about a month early because of weather didn't really work out so well for IMAZ... |

Elite 3683 Whispering Pines, North Carolina | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I guess I have to say that I'm pretty surprised that there are more ppl signed up to do the full than the half. 519 ppl have signed up to race the full, at this point vs 430 that have signed up to do the half... I know it's early yet, and that it'll definitely change, but it's still a bit surprising to me... Anyways, carry on... |
