Subject: Hot running tip for what it is worth.I am a newbie. I raced my first and to this point only tri in march. (I did pretty good thought ) So I am no expert. Well the heat is on and I am doing the 1/2 iron distance in sept. (Prairieman in Texas ) So I have been training in the heat. I have been experimenting w/ different thing to try and stay cool. I usually wear a white tri top. Yesterday I bought a uv protection long sleeve (white ) to try and run in. It is made by Columbia and is suppose to be an xtreme fishing shirt. Oxymoron? lol PFG is the line. It has a huge vent in the back and some vents in the front. A few pockets that a gel fits into perfectly. It is polester and is made of special wicking material. It does not expose any skin. It was amazing. By far that was the coolest I felt on the run. It was 6:30 pm, sun high, no clouds and 97 degrees with little to no wind. I ran a 8 mile some what hilly course in 1:01 equaling a 7:38 pace per mile. I could not believe how well it worked. It does not look as cool as a tight tri shirt, but from now on, in the heat it is my "A "equipment for running. It was 39.99 at Acadamey. I hope this helps someone Edited by whole 2009-06-23 1:43 PM
