COURT JESTER ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Saw the prelim run with Bolt and Dix (i think...USA) finishing first and second. It appeared that Dix was putting out quite the effort and Bolt was barely working to keep pace and that he had another gear or three to hit. With a 19.30 he must have redlined his high gear. I do believe FORMER record holder Michael Johnson said he didn't think Bolt would approach the record. Hmmmmmmm.....Michael...how is that foot tasting? |

I normally like to believe the best, but I was thinking the same thing. For now - let's assume he is innocent until proved otherwise. He's a different body type than those others so I could see this being legit. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I thought he was a new comer or a phenom...however ,they said the american had beaten him 5 out of 9 races or something to that effect.....since he has been beaten, and frequently - it would cast a shadow over how he got SO fast without previous form Shame if he gets caught because its a thrill to watch him run! |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() surfwallace - 2008-08-20 12:52 PM ETA: Is anybody else frustrated that they have seen the results before they are broadcast? I understand the event has taken place. I understand that the news is going to broadcast it for those that want to know. But why shive it right in my face and every other American's face that they know haven't seen it? This is the 3rd event I have really been looking forward to seeing that I have found out the result just by opening a new browser and WHAM! it is right there on my homepage. What happened to "turn TV volume down if you don't want to know?" This is so frustrating - I found out on a website that has nothing to do with athletics at all, but for some reason decided they needed to post the results. I don't know why we can't watch them live like everyone else in the world! |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Dude is a freak of nature for real! He's so tall, each of his steps just eats up way more track than everyone else. And yeah - I don't understand why we saw every single race of the swimming and gymnastics and beach volleyball live, but with the track, it's all over the place! Every news source - online or on paper publishes the results. Even worse - you go to NBCOlympics.com and it's all over the front page. You'd think that since NBC knows they haven't shown it, they wouldn't splash the track results all over the front page every morning. I went to check on other events and accidentally got more results today, grrrrrr! |

And yeah - I don't understand why we saw every single race of the swimming and gymnastics and beach volleyball live, but with the track, it's all over the place! Because with swimming and gymnastics, the event finals were in the morning in Beijing...swimming finals started at 10am locally, so 10pm EST. It was set up like that by NBS so that the finals could be shown live (at least on the east coast). With track, the event finals are at night locally (some events are after 11pm), which means they are run in the morning here in the US. NBC doesn't want to show them live in the states because no one (relatively) will be watching. Therefore, they delay it by 12 hours which gives the news outlets an opportunity to report the results. Which, of course, is their job. |

I would bet the house that he's on somethin'...

Science Nerd![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() He's pretty amazing. I want to think it's a matter of training, his height, etc., but I'm kind of skeptical with all the doping going around. Which is a shame since he hasn't been accused or had positive results. Are we going to view all athletic achievements this way now? |

True, but why don't they put more of that stuff online then? I would gladly watch stuff online or on TV if given the opportunity. For example - the men's 400m is in progress right now, actually should be over by the time I'm done writing this post. But I've checked all morning and right before and it's not being shown online. Then show it on primetime if you want. I guess i'm just frustrated b/c I'm a track-fan and I've been trying avoid the news to wait to see the few things they decide to show in the evening. |

True, but why don't they put more of that stuff online then? To force you to tune in to the broadcast, so you can watch the commercials. |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I thought all athletes were tested immediately after events? I mean, if he was on something...he'd be caught by now, right? Still, it is freakish watching him run...ridiculous fast...makes it look WAY too easy. |
