I am not for or against Wal Mart - I like the cheap prices but hate the experience. Especially after last night. STORY TIME:

Boyfriend and I go to Wal Mart together, I am grocery shopping for the week and he is toothbrush shopping (yep). As soon as we get inside, he says "I'm going to look at TV's and toothbrushes, see ya." I instantly complain, because I like his company. He leaves anyway. Bastard.

I am shopping... doo dah... doo dah...

And then at right about the canned vegetable aisle, I see these two creepy dudes staring at me. No shopping cart, no walking around, just staring at me. I'm like "whatever" and keep shopping. Aisle after aisle, I slowy realize that they are FOLLOWING ME! When I get to the dairy, one of the dudes, comes up to about 5 feet away from me and LOOKS ME UP AND DOWN with a grin on his face (missing teeth by the way). I swing around, pull out my cell phone and frantically start dialing boyfriend. WHOSE PHONE GOES STRAIGHT TO VOICE MAIL! Bastard.

The scary dudes keep following me, a ways behind me, but they are still there. FINALLY, boyfriend shows up and I tell him what's going on. The dudes are nowhere, I can't see them to point out. So we book it to check out and THE DUDES FOLLOW US TO THE CHECKOUT LINE AND PROCEED TO GET BEHIND US! I'm like "that's them." Now there are three scary dudes.

Boyfriend tells them to get in another line. Verbal tension rises. They're like "what? do we need to take this outside?" Boyfriend says again to get in another line, more verbal comments exchanged. I am ignoring and shoving my stuff onto the belt as fast as I can. They move to another line. We have the checker call security and are escorted to the car.

WTF????

Bonus: Wal Mart was out of bananas
Double Bonus: The only reason I went to Wal Mart last night was because I had a gift card... and I accidentally left it at home.

The best move you could have made. Good thing they didn't follow you once you were in the car.

There's a problem when stores get so big that you run a real risk of being assaulted.

The world's a big place.  You risk getting assaulted by leaving your house.  Just have to be aware of your surroundings.

Good for you for noticing them!  I'm curious tho...why not just go straight to security (and let them follow you there, heehee) rather than calling your boyfriend?

Here is what I took a pic of at a Wal-Mart when I first got down here and all the looting was going on. This guy's eyes were hollow...he totally freaked me out.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is uncomfortable with those wal-mart greeters.

Nope, he's not.

I didn't know where security in Wal Mart was located... mental note!

Wow- that's crazy and scarey!  Your thread reminded me that I need to be aware of others when I'm at Wal-Mart.  It's good that you were aware of your surroundings and they didn't follow you to your car.

Very scary. Two thoughts:

1. Don't keep shopping once you feel uncomfortable. Once you feel even slightly uncomfortable, immediately start moving towards areas with people. There is no shame in being too careful

2. This is one of many stories that makes me loves Texas' concealed handgun laws.

Glad you're okay.

You aren't in Kansas anymore .... no wait you are.

Glad to hear that you got out of there okay. I wouldn't fault Walmart for it - seems to me this could occur at just about any store or anywhere for that matter. At least the Walmart checkout person called security and they escorted you out to your car.

Not to miss a chance to slam Walmart, but it can and does happen anywhere.   I was recently followed around the grocery store - just kept seeing the same guy while tooling around.   I didn't really notice I was actually being followed until he was there again in the natural foods isle asking me about green tea - he didn't really fit in there.   I just told him "my husband prefers this brand" and left and noticed he did not follow me up to the check out isle.
