Nice work on the back of such a long ride!

I was off at 6:45 and managed to get off the bike before it started raining heavily, felt kinda bad for the later starters but then it serves you all right for swimming so fast

Didn't get a gel in my goodie bag though!!!

Apparently some guy stacked it pretty badly hitting a curb whilst trying to get his feet into his bike shoes, everyone watching between their fingers as they could see it coming. Ouch.

Don't suppose you know what the categories on the result are? I am guessing maybe age group but not sure.

Nice work Chris.
Your bike ride the day before probably hindered you a bit but you still rocked it.
Truly amazing!

Hey Chris,

Great race.  Man, I can't believe that you did 66 miles the day before a race.  You're a machine.  That was a fast run time for all those bike miles and a hurt back.  Congratulations.

Be sure to post pictures of your anti-rain dance. Laughing

Stonking race report Chris and superb job on all three disciplines. My advice for the swimming would be don't bother trying to count. It's the one time that someone else is going to count for you and if they get it wrong your still going to have to do the amount they say anyway. Then again if you get a pb by miss-counting and getting angry you need to work on that amnesia (not sure how you do that).

Ah, Chris....all of your training is paying off beautifully.  What a great race!  You are so fast on the run!   I had no idea....your blogs are so modest, but you are really good!

Hey Chris,  that was such an entertaining race report!   I loved it.

Hmm yep I'm thinking that kind of ride the day before a race is not the best idea,  i've done that before too and just have nothing in the legs for race type pace.

thats hilarious that you thought the race counter had messed up.  Good swim,  I find all legs of a tri are good if you have ae little bit of anger to sort out.  you feel so much calmer aftewards.   I still can't get me head around the idea of doing Tri swims in a pool with someone counting the laps.  its just soo different to all the tris here battling for clear water with people to swim over and people swimming over you etc.

and 10C is antartica type weather for me.  I would be in my middle of the winter riding gear I think

Sounds like a great race. Knole park would be a great venue for the run, we used to go there when we were kids in winter to feed the deer (I gre up in Edenbridge, but now live in NZ).

I enjoyed reading your report, not just because it was entertaining but because it was nostalgic as I spent many hours in Knowle park as my gran lived a couple of miles away. Not biking though, usually sledding in the winter.
From your comment in the race report, sounds like your sister made it. Did she enjoy? Is she hooked now?

Ah England...you just gotta love the rain. My mum emails me here in the US daily and her first sentence always tells me about the weather.
