an unexpected chunk of change. If you came into a little cash, (Lara knows what I'm talking about) not enough to buy a high end Tri. bike but say enough for a few new toys.
What would you treat yourself to?

New helmet?
Two or Three pair of your favorite shoes?
Really nice set of chef's knives?
Lifetime membership to USAT?
A season of personal training or massage, or both?

I'd pick my worse event, or the event that I wanted to improve the most in and pay to get a private professional coach. Equipment you can always buy, someone's great experience, that's priceless.

Don,

Does this mean you found your wallet?

I'd love to go to one of those long Triathlon Training Camps that they do in those very nice places (like the Carribean or Australia) that are put on by professional coaches. That way, I could devote the entire time to training, technique, good nutrition, and hanging out with folks who share the passion for this sport. It would be a Triathlon Fantasy Camp of sorts.

You've gotta let us know what you decide to do.

Although at first I started thinking gadgets... I'd have to say that infosteward hit the nail on the head! But, it would have to be a lot of money because I need a lot of help!

Congrats on the sale of the house and do let us know what you treat yourself to.

Ahh, the possibilities. I think part of the fun of coming into a sum of money is dreaming up things you can do with said money.....

hang glide off of a mountain in New Zealand
White water raft down the Colorado River
Ski down an Alpine mountain
Meet for a midnight rondevue (sp?) in Italy...

sigh...the possibilties

If I got a small chunk of money that I could spend without any remorse- I think I would spend it on something especially decadent. For me, that would be a subscription to the British Triathlon Mag- 220 as well as a good supply of a good brand of carbohydrate refueling drink mixtures and the new Polar S625X™ Running Computer. And I may treat myself to a 200$ bottle of red wine too- just because I am human!

Congrats on the sale of your house! That's great!

I would first get some new running shoes. (Mine are really starting to break down). Then I would plan a training weekend on some nice strip of beach. Being from Colorado, we don't get that opportunity to often.

I would spend some of the money adding on to one of the tatoos that I have on my back. They are very meaningful to me and I would love to add on. Have you ever thought about getting one? They're very addictive so proceede with caution

Congrats on the sale of your house!

I would also be partial to getting a personal massage therapist ( I'm a massage therapist who wouldn't mind the job..hint...hint

Congrats on the sale. That can be a huge stress relief. Based on your suggestions, I'll assume a fund of around $500:

a decent used road bike to replace my 13 yo hybrid
a few pairs of running shoes and some running/cycling/tri clothing
a swim camp
bike accessories- a class on bike maintenance, tools, spare parts, new helmet, shoes, clipless pedals, clip on aerobars
some additions to the tri library

Umm Don, you wouldn't be able to loan me a few bucks would you?

Hmmmmm.... I'd get a computrainer, and spinerval DVD's as per Lara and bear.

I'd also (if there's money left over) buy an Orca tri suit... the elite one.... I think those look sharp.

I'd also like some bike accessories, a new Bento box type thing, a gel flask and belt, and Yankz in every color.

Hmmmmm do I have money left over for a new lipstick? All-day power pink?

Register for next year's Ironman Germany with all accomodations paid for in advance. There's your motivation At the worst you get a trip to Germany out of it. At best you finish an Ironman
