I am in the throes of a late Friday afternoon high.....the beginning of what is going to be an awesome weather weekend, and I just have to put a shout out to all of my tri brothers and sisters in the Midwest. Spring is here.....we can train outside.....it's a BEAUTIFUL THING!! We kept our sanity during the countless hours on the trainer, we survived the mind-numbing boredom of the treadmill (or the windburn and frozen appendages of running outside), we can fill our lungs with fresh air (we have that going for us, at least) instead of the recycled sweat filled air of the gym.
GO FORTH, TRAIN! REJOICE!

Spring is fantastic, but the TRUE rejoicing will commence when the outdoor pool 8 blocks from my house reopens and I no longer have to drive a half hour (or bike an hour and a half) to the pool!

'tis indeed a glorious day. I think we in the midwest are rewarded for our toughness during the bleak months of winter by having the most wonderful springs. I just did a brave thing: I put my parka away! I hope I odnt have to see it again until late Oct.

Spring is here.....we can train outside.....it's a BEAUTIFUL THING!!

What took y'all so long? Spring officially came to the rest of the civilized world three weeks ago, but we've had usable weather for months.

This is the MIDWEST, dear. We don't go by when the calendar says it's spring, we go by when Mother Nature says it's spring. Otherwise, we'd loose body parts to frostbite.

Absolutely! Kind of like the westerners wear their winter coats when it's 50.

It's all relative. I grew up in eastern Montana and North Dakota. Spring in Iowa always strikes me as this unexpected, way early miracle!

And I would have to teach spin tomorrow instead of riding outside   But Sunday will be an entirely different story as Markk and I head out on our bikes for a long SUNDRENCHED afternoon spin !

YAY!

I wonder if anyone would object to my hauling the spin bikes out to the parking lot...

My wife thinks we should be working in the yard. I said Yes, dear, anything you say, right after today's 40-mile ride/run brick and tomorrow's 60-mile ride. God only makes so many 78-degree humidity-free days in the Midwest, and I'm pretty sure that both the grass and the flowers will come up without any help from me.  However, this afternoon, the Masters and a nap are two things that couldn't possibly exist without my help!

I've been riding outside for a while now. Today however, I got to leave the knee warmers, long sleeve jersey, and full finger gloves at home. Ohh yeah.

Now if it could just stay like this. :D

Planned the entire weekend around being outside from 12-3 today, 12-3 tomorrow.  And napping from 3-5 both days.  It doesn't get any better than this.

I got to get in a nice bike/run brick this afternoon. I am planning on a long bike ride tomorrow. I was able to get some yard work done after the run today. Luckily my tire on my wheelbarrow went flat so I had to stop. I'll finish tomorrow sometime.
