Subject: RE: Finally I am an Ironman too!I would like to add a message of encouragement for all those are preparing for IM or for who is thinking to start preparing it. First of all, I can say that if I made it, everybody can make it, in a phisical point of view. Last summer 2007 I was not able to swim more than 1km in the pool and NOT even continously. Maybe I could do a straight 500meters but then stopping and having serious difficulties to go on. Very disappointing for me. For cycling, I had my MTB for going to the office only and I had an old Trek 1000 road bike in my cellar full of spidernets and mainly never used. I bought it 4 years ago and used it just at that time for 3 or 4 times.
I was mainly a runner, loving this sport and running a lot, let' say an average of 70miles per week. I said everybody can do it from a phisical point of view. From a mental point of view is not for everybody I think. I consider myself very strong mentally and adapted already to strong efforts like marathons or similar. I think, before entering the journey of IM, everybody should learn what is "suffering" from a sport prospective. For your info, I followed the swim and cycling plans in the Trifuel website. It is really great. For running, I used just my experience partecipating into many races during the 8months. Not from that plan.
In the next experience for 2009 in Austria, I will use one of those from BT. Not yet decided which one. But I am reading Friel book which is great to make a custom plan.
