for those down south, spring is already taken hold, but up north where i live, its just starting up. some of the first signs of spring...

+ see buds and crocus appear (saw some last week!)
+ the house is a mess...since we're spending every moment we can outside
+ get to ride my bike to the pool for morning swims! (first time was today!)
+ the chacos come out (first day today...and they will stay on my feet until september)

so, what are your own personal signs of spring???

Ah spring in Colorado! Well, my daffodils that were *this close* to blooming got snowed on last week. Oh well! Besides all the robins and other birds, a few flowers popping up, and a little bit of green in the grass a big sign of spring is I painted my toenails and wore sandals to work to day! :-)

Sprouts out of the ground!!! I don't know what they are.... some sort of perennial flower, but it's so encouraging to see their little green heads poking out!

People! I don't see anyone all winter long while I'm walking the dog, in the snow/sleet/slush/ice... with boots/facemask/scarves/mittens/gloves/hats and earmuffs... but lately, I've run across other human beings...OUTDOORS! Imagine!

The days are getting longer... It's not dark when I leave work anymore! I'm thrilled thrilled thrilled!!!

1. No more long pants, gloves or hat when I run (did it for the first time this past saturday).

2. The bike comes off the trainer (not yet)

3. I get to actually finish my morning runs after the sun comes up (which ends on Sunday when we turn the closks ahead )

Well, if you live in South Florida, you know there's no spring. It's either cool or humid as hell outside! This past week we've been up to 89 degrees! That's just yucky. What happened to our spring?? I guess I can't complain too much- I've been biking, running outside year round. But I'm glad you northerners are finally able to go outside now! (even though I've heard NY is still battling snowstorms!!)

You mean spring actually exists somewhere??  Snow is still covering the ground, although the roads are dry, so I guess spring will arrive, maybe in time for *summer*

When I'm lulled to sleep by the sound of the wind in my palm tree and bird-of-paradise coming through my open windows... Ahhhh sleep like a baby.

I know it's spring when the air is filled with the scent of...sod.

Growing up in Iowa, there is a distinct smell that wet, thawing sod has and, when I catch a whiff of wet dirt, I know that spring isn't far behind.

I hadn't thought about that smell in YEARS. I could almost get homesick. I lost multiple pairs of shoes in mud ankle deep trying to fly my kite in March...

About 3 days after the restless natives hang a burning effegy of Punxsutawney Phil in the town square. Cabin fever has broken and spring is just around the corner

Robins!!! I love their puffy red chests.

Flowers!!!  I enjoy other peoples lovely colors, someday I should do my own.

I know its spring when everything in the yard begins its change from brown and yellow to green. The azalea and dogwood buds swell, ready to explode in a splash of color, a thin layer of pollen covers the car, the shadows grow shorter, the days longer.  In the mornings, the birds sing at sunrise before going to work building their nests in the backyard.  The world comes to life!  The best thing about winter is when it finally ends.

Orange blossoms. I have a huge orange tree in my backyard and last night there was little breeze and the fragrance of orange blossoms was thick in the air. Heaven.

I can bring dd to the park again. She's been there 5 times since last Monday and the days we didn't go, it was raining.

I've officially said goodbye to socks (except when working out).

It is light out soon after I go to work (at 5am).

Birds are chirping and Canadian geese are stopping by on their way back home.

Oh yeah, and my sub pump won't shut off.

We had our first official tornado warning and severe thunderstorm tonight. For me, that is a sure sign spring is here. How I have missed that loud tornado siren 1 block from my house!

Spring?  It's supposed to be Spring?  Hmmmm.....apparently the snow we got yesterday didn't get the message.
