Subject: RE: Getting your calories in drink form during an ironmanA trick I heard at USAT coaching clinic - mix a 4 x concentrated bottle (I use carb pro or perpetium sp? ) Mark the bottle in 4ths with lines. Every hour you need to mix 1/4 (you know you are getting the right amt. b/c it is marked ) of the concentrate and a fresh bottle of water in your aerobottle. Sip for one hour. If you do 8 scoops of perpetium & the rest water (plus some salt if you are doing IMKY ) you should be getting about 220 calories per hour. I know that I need some solid food to aid the digestion so I have a snack mix in my bento box w/ almonds, and gluten free pretzels to munch on. I also plan on carrying one or two bars (I have to do envirokids b/c of the gluten issue ) just in case I need another boost.
When I switched to mainly liquid nutrition in my long training (not that I have been doing well with fitting in long training!! ) I felt much better!!
