They were very unsure when I talked to them last year. Yes, the triathlon is back on. They did cancel it initially as the original director who had been involved since the onset wanted to step down and the hamlet where the tri is held (Richards Landing) had some homeowners concerned about the disruption every year. Long story short the triathlon got a new management team and the original exhausted director is playing a support role now and stepping back for a bit! (She needs it after that many years of running that event! ) They have reviewed with Richards Landing, everyone is happy and the Tri is back on. If you sign up for there email list, they'll send you periodic updates on whats going on, when registration starts, early bird discounts, etc. This is a fun and challenging Tri. That bike course should not exist on that island....its a geological anomaly! lol |

Cambridge, Ontario | Subject: RE: Races 2015 Hi guys. Some great information here. I'm relatively new to Ontario and 2015 will be my first fill tri season here. Having lived in northern Alberta, the options available seem to be wonderful. I was just wondering what the main differences are between the Multisport series and the Subaru series? I'm in the midst of planning my race schedule for 2015, and just wanted to get some local insight. Cheers. |

The Subaru has more long sprints (30 km bikes and 7 km runs) but you'll see all that information when you get to the sites. Good luck on your races. |

Veteran 267 London, Ontario | Subject: RE: Races 2015 Hey CrankGrinder, I hope we see you at our races. If you do participate please say hello on race day. For the sake of clarity an earlier post indicated that the other series had more 30km - 7km Triathlon distance races. In fact we have four and the Subaru Series has three. We also have seven Sprint triathlons with a 20km bike. If you check out our website you will see there is quite a selection of races. Welcome to Ontario! Edited by John Salt 2015-01-04 6:29 PM |

I guess I was thinking more of a percentage of races when I said that Subaru has more long sprints. BTW, I love your races and greatly appreciate the work you do setting them up and advancing the sport. |

New user 10 | Subject: RE: Races 2015 This might sound a little egotistical but I noticed that with the Summersault series all the finishers get an medal, is that the case in all events or is that an exception. I just don't expect to finish in the top three my first year and thought it may be a nice keepsake. |

Veteran 267 London, Ontario | Subject: RE: Races 2015 Egoalie, I certainly understand the notion of a keepsake but there is the race shirt, which might get more use than a medal. I would hope that all participants consider the quality of the race experience when choosing a race. Not saying this is the case with any other series but, if you a guaranteed a medal and the race experience is not what you hoped for, then what good is the medal as a keepsake? I think GoFaster would give you some feedback in this regard as well. Just something I hope athletes consider. Edited by John Salt 2015-01-30 6:15 PM |

360 Ottawa, Ontario | Subject: RE: Races 2015 Realistically, a finisher medal is only really kind of cool the first time you get one, and after that it's pretty much meaningless. I don't even really care about the t-shirt but it is more practical in that you can use it. |

Member 1004 | Subject: RE: Races 2015 I look for three things in a race 1. recognition that I participated and finished - this I get with the t-shirt, hat, or race number. 2. Recognition for a great effort and race - this I get with my place, time and medal if I get one. 3. A positive experience - this I get from the atmosphere of the race, fellow competitors, family that comes to cheer, the booths, the announcer's commentary, the beauty of the course and the trip. I've got a few medals and I love it every time it happens. I didn't get a medal on my best race but I loved that race the best. I guess what I'm saying is my performance is what makes satisfies me but a medal is like gravy and is part of my motivation. |

360 Ottawa, Ontario | Subject: RE: Races 2015 I would absolutely be motivated by a medal awarded based on placing, but the "everybody who finishes gets a medal" thing doesn't really provide any motivation (for me anyways). If I could save, say, $15 off the price of race registration by forgoing the medal and shirt, I totally would. |

Veteran 267 London, Ontario | Subject: RE: Races 2015 In that case you need to register for a MultiSport Canada/Recharge With Milk Triathlon Series race. We have that option and new this year a Supported Training Day option. Details here.....http://www.multisportcanada.com/registration/ |
