Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok...I am so fashionably inept that 'What Not to Wear' says I'm hopeless. So here is my quandry. I wanted to wear Cuodoroy(sp) pants today with my polo. I have recently learned that Cuodoroy is for winter. Since officially it's Spring, can I wear them? BTW, the weather today is low 50's in the AM and upper 60's lower 70's in the late afternoon. Bear in mind that until last year I honestly thought that flanel only came in red patchwork. I was surprised to learn that it was actually a fabric that comes in many colors. Thank you for any fashion tips forthcoming. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, if you ever listen to Stacy and Clinton, they say that white shoes are allowable after Labor Day, so who cares if corduroy is supposedly a "winter" fabric? Personal, I think it would depend on how heavy the material is. If it's lighter weight, go for it. If it's heavy like a tarp, I would never wear it. I think the main question is do you want to be going "shuzshuzshuz" all day long as you walk? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Lightweight and not in a dark color= acceptable heavyweight= not, and why would you want to, won't you be hot? There are some summer/spring weight cords out there. They have smaller wales (grooves). The bigger the groove, the heavier the fabric. That being said, I have some cream colored small wale cords that I have already put up for the year. But I'm anal about stuff like that. And despite what Stacy and Clinton say, I won't wear white pants until after Easter, and no white shoes after Labor Day. My mother tried to raise a Southern Belle, and that part of it stuck with me....

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Depends on the size of the courderoy. I have a lighter weight pink cord mini-skirt that was made for spring-fall. Oh - and I love Stacey & Clinton, but according to them you can't wear mini skirts after age 35 - boo! I'll hvae to ignore them on that one. You too, Max. Edited by MomX3 2007-03-23 8:39 AM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok...good point, anyone can chime in. We do have some fashion forward males here. They are a light brown with a small cord. Ie no huge grooves. They are kinda stretchy and fairly comfortable. In regards to size, they are a 30 w 32 l

Light brown? Might be time to put them away. That having been said, I think you can break just about any fashion rule, as long as you know you're breaking it. Them: "You know that your cords are light brown and it's spring." You: [look them staright in the eye and deadpan] "I know." Then walk away... |

Science Nerd ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Light brown is still acceptable. Brown is an all-year color. If it's a fine wale corduroy, you're fine. |

Again ... at this point, the shirt selection is critical ... could still go either way depending on the shirt. |

A charcoal grey short sleeved polo with the NRC logo on it. Brown belt and brown skechers that look like bowling shoes. With grey socks that match the shirt. Oh...and my ever sexy badge and TLD's around my neck. That's what we in the 'biz' call accessories. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Its barely spring, and the weather can still make a turn down, so I say you can wear them. Maybe in a couple weeks you have to worry about that, but March in Virginia is still sort of winterish at times. That being said, I think brown cords and a charcoal shirt is a bit fall/winter. Then again, I'm wearing black and charcoal right now, so all advice should be taken with a grain of salt. ![]() |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You could wear it with flip flops, I think that would be cute. (But this is coming from a girl who is just as fashionably inept...I wear sneakers with EVERYTHING, except at work cuz I'd get fired, and have had my father, brother, and boyfriends on occasion tell me that my outfit is so out of season and I need to change. Honestly, as long as I am not too hot or not too cold, it's in season for me |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I agree that the charcoal top might make the whole look a little to winter-ish. If I was going to wear lightweight cords in the Spring, I think I'd wear something with a little color (light blue+light brown is a good classic combo). If you want to stick to a neutral, off-white and light brown are a really nice transitional combination. If you look at the transitional collections of lots of classic designers (Ralph Lauren, for example) you see lots of shades of light brown mixed with off-white or cream. (I'm a guy, but I do work in the fashion industry.) Edited by jmk-brooklyn 2007-03-23 12:37 PM |

I'm sorry ... do you have written permission from management to deviate from the NRC's standard Dark Blue suit/white shirt/blue and red striped tie uniform? And I'm sorry ... the wearing of TLD's negates the acceptability of cords ... hot particles and other zoomies love and are drawn to the static created by the cord friction ... and please destroy any polyester, if that hasn't already been taken care of. My former boss once wore polyester to a BWR job ... we had to wait for him to decay. *snicker* I'm sure you look quite dashing, though. |

I think mini skirts are appropriate any time!

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So, what are these "seasons" everyone's talking about? "Fall" is what happens when I don' t clip out in time. "Spring" is the stuff in new running shoes... which I don't wear to work! And I'm supposed to aim for stuff that doesn't smell funny, or have too many wrinkles or visible stains (but some days I just go for 2 outta 3.) Other than that... well, not all of the ladies should be counted on for fashion advice! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hmmm, I guess I better go shopping. I wore my black cordouroy pants to work today. At least I had a pink t-shirt on and cute denim jacket with 3/4 length sleeves. Fashionable from the waist up. |
