Subject: RE: Help me name my puppy as wellThat was no doofus, that was one of my heroes, Penn Jillette who named his daughter Moxie Crimefighter. His son is Zoltan.
If you're going to train your dog, her call name should be something short and easy to shout, i.e., Desdemona = bad, Desi = good. Dogs learn their names and commands, and they can tell the difference regardless of syllables, you just don't want to have to say something long and goofy when you're calling her to come. That's why sheep herders name their dogs things like "Jet" and "Rex". Not as much fun as Princess Waggington Wigglepuppy, but if you call your dog, those kinds of names get old quickly. Even show dogs have a call name that is vastly different from their registered name. Our old dog was Iffinest Guided Missle, but she was trained as Pearl. |
