My last house I had both mice and bats. Look at it this way...at least you don't have bears. The traps are a lot more expensive!

Don’t feel to bad.. I got mice too. Well my wife tells me we got mice she sees them all the time. I got some traps, got one. And have not gotten any since. I know there still out there. I think their really smart mice. I even went down to check a trap the other day, the trap was set-off, food gone, no mouse. ? I’m still being optimistic that we can take care of it but I keep thinking of the Porky-Pig / Sylvester toon were they went to stay in the old house with the mice.

Cheers.

Way to go.  Even with all the mice you haven't let cleaning get in the way of training.

Maybe you can train the mice to use a box like a cat.

Peppermint oil will keep them away.  See if you can figure out where they're coming from (under the stove, behind the fridge, etc).  Take a cotton ball and soak it with peppermint oil, menthol, spearmint, etc. and put it around there.  They hate it and will take off asap.

I know it works. Having two cats, who are good mousers wasn't keeping our little "friend" away.  He was in the walls, so we couldn't set a trap for him.  But I put some cotton balls soaked with peppermint oil in the doorjams and within minutes he was gone.

Well, if you have lots of mice, chances are you don't have snakes...

Mice are better than rats.

many fruit trees in my neighborhood=rats.

I found one of my dogs eating one once.  I swear, she chases squirrels for sport and rats to kill.  Tom has found "several" rats outside in the yard-chewed.

I think the rats are just too fat and slow so she can catch them.  ewwww.....  She will sit and hunt under the fruit tree for hours.   Just lie in wait...... I should build her a blind?

I mentioned this to the vet and he didnt' believe me.

A better mouse trap.

We use to have A LOT of mice out at our hunting camp. If we set six traps before we left to go home they were full within hours. And then for the next week/two/three week however long till we came back the mice would be free to come and go. So we built a better mouse trap..

Take a bucket.
A metal rood or something that would work the same. (String doesn’t work well)
A can of some kind.
Punch the rod through the side of the bucket. Then through one end of the can and out the other end and then again though the other end of the bucket. Now you will have a free spinning can on a rod over the middle of the bucket..
Take some peanut butter. (Mice like name brands) Run a good strip of peanut butter around the can. (All the way around)
Make a ramp were the mice can clime up to the edge of the bucket and maybe a little above the can. (Not to close and not to far, you want them to have to jump for the can but not be able to reach the can and the ramp at the same time.)
Once they jump onto the can it will spin out from under them and the mouse will fall into the bucket.
You have to fill the bottom of the bucket with a couple of inches of water so the mice have to swim or they will chew their way out. AND they say drowning is a peaceful way to die.. (if I had to chose between drowning and having a mouse trap smash my scull open….)

Good luck..

I grew up in a farm house and the number one rule about mice was ALWAYS set the trap again.

I hate mice. We had some in our garage and basement a few years ago. Had to throw out some food. We have 3 cats now and they do a good job. I usually catch one in the shed every month or two.

You have my sympathies. Keep at it. Show them no mercy. Rent Caddyshack to get the right attitude toward rodents.
