Colorado would laugh...Texas has to shut down highways.

Parts of I-10 closed.

Here in Abilene we got less than an inch...but temps were hovering just over freezing so I drove a little slower to work in case some overpasses or whatnot had frozen...

My mom and sis are driving in from Texarkana today and I tried to impress upon them the havoc that even an inch of snow can create in TX.  Sis lives in Colorado so I could totally see her thinking "no big deal"...not realizing that Texas isn't equipped to deal with this so even an inch can be very very dangerous!

Not the thread I was expecting.

I lived on Long Island, it was the same there. You'd think they would be better at snow removal, but no.

Ha!  I spent some time in South Dakota.  I swear they didn't plow.  BUT...that being said...nothing ever closed due to snow either!  Around here if there is a prediction of a flake pools and gyms and such tend to close.  In South Dakota the roads would get so bad that I couldn't GET to the pool...but they were open!  I would call and check sometimes in case the roads improved and I could get out there.

*sigh*  I miss snow days.  We usually got 3-4 a year in South Dakota...

Ha!  Not the thread I was expecting either!

There was a total of 10cm (approx. 4 inches) that fell in England 2 years ago and it closed airports and the National Guard was called in to try and shovel off the runways.

Embarrassing!

So Colorado can take more than 4 to 6 inches but Texas can't? I guess everything in Texas isn't bigger.

This also explains why Brad lives there.

Teejaay - 2013-01-04 11:40 AM It only takes 1/2 an inch to get the job done here. In Tucson that is.

But does it even matter?  I thought Tuscon was irrelevant!!  :p

I'm gonna blame Cord for this descent into debauchery with his comment about things not being bigger in Texas.  Clearly it's all his fault!

Just the POTENTIAL THREAT of snow on the radar 300 miles ot the west is enough to send people here in the Carolinas into a frenzied panic of supermarket bread and milk looting!

We call that frenzy that a predicted few inches of the white stuff French Toast Weather.    Milk, eggs and bread are scarfed up quick, whether or not the patron actually needs it.       If it hits the power generally goes out, cause we more ice than snow.      If that happens everything gets transferred to a cooler under the carport.     Country living at its best?   Undecided
