Cooking. I love to grill on the weekends.

Oh, I'm the dish washer fairy too. I load it up after everyone goes to bed just about every night. It's like magic, everyone wakes up to clean dishes.

Both of these, and also:

Fixing random things that people break. Gorilla glue is my friend.

Recycling and taking trash to the transfer station (live in the country and won't fork over $25/month for pickup!)

That reminds me: Platinum Medal in Being a Cheap-azz.

Mowing and Landscaping

Vehicle Maintenance, Gold-Medal Event: Borrowing a flatbed from work to haul my Jetta home after a broken engine mount at 197,000 miles.  Drilled and Installed 2 Heli-coils (using the shop at work)  and drove it to work the next day.

I'm currently on sabbatical from house duties on an overseas assignment.  We even have an Ayi, so I don't have to do the dishes.   Moving back to the States is going to be a RUDE awakening!

This week it'll be garage cleaning. Sometimes it is laundry, sometimes pool cleaning, sometimes yard work. I think I'm more of a decathlon kinda guy

Hahaha--totally!

I think of garage cleaning as it's own special deal--kinda like the UFC of domestic duties. Maybe I should send you a good ring-girl.

It wouldn't help. I have been dreading this week and there is little that will help other than a little HTFU.

HAHAHA!  Yeah, nope - I don't have that much skill.

I totally wouldn't even medal in the domestic duty Olympics.  I'd have to try and find some long lost heritage to a super small country so that I could join their Olympic team to be allowed in!

Fixin stuff.

I do all the fixing and maintenance on our cars, haven't taken a car to a shop in a long time. My wife would call it hiding out in the garage, but I enjoy it and I do accomplish some things out there.

My weekly duties are picking up, dishes, cooking and I vacuum and mop.

I cleaned the fridge AND the pantry this past weekend. I'm pretty sure it was tougher than my 70.3!!!

As for regular training... cooking and laundry.

You, my friend, are at risk for overtraining and need a recovery week-- ____________(insert yummy thing of choice here) and get yourself to the couch with feet up, stat.

I enjoy cooking and laundry.  Doing dishes blows, even with a dishwasher.

This would be like the rhythm gymnastics of DDO (Domestic Duty Olympics)!  Absolutely NO offense Mon--you know I think that's freakin awesome.  And so does every single man in COJ ;)

Hahaha!  Yeah, pretty much no one thinks about rhythmic gymnastics as a sport... so the sewing thing would fit right in!

I did forget one thing though - I'm freakin' AWESOME at putting together Ikea stuff.  And I actually also LIKE putting it together. Weird, I know.

I want to give you a medal for that just because it is so completely painful and horrible to me.  My own personal version of hell would have assembling IKEA furniture as a component.  eff me--total tabasco-dipped-fork-in-the-eye.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

Know that base training is not a component of training that is going to necessarily make you faster, but it will make you stronger and give you more endurance to last through the longer races.

I had read the articles on BT, I'd trained, and I thought I had prepared. There were, however, a few things that I didn't internalize despite what I'd been told.

Your training schedule should be based completely on the hours you have available to train, not necessarily on the number of hours you "need" to train.
