Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Man this thing is a mess. Every little bump or crack I go over sprays me with sticky liquid. I have the one with the cap, but as you know it is a flexible cap that still lets the liquid out. I realized today after the ride that I was using the yellow poufy thing wrong. It was at the bottom of the bottle instead of at the top right under the cap. But still I can't imagine this will make much of a difference. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone else have this problem? Any good solutions out there? |

Royal(PITA) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have seen some folks put saran wrap on the top held in place by rubber bands. Mine splahed me bad yesterday too. I am going to try that on my next long ride. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() the yellow poof thing does help. . i usually just put water in my aerobottle and use other liquids in my down tube bottles. . easier to clean and your right, i dont know how to eliminate all the splashing if the aerobottle is full. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ahhhh saran wrap! What a simple idea, but I bet it will work. Thanks everyone!!! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() IMO, the yellow poofy thing is useless, even when used 'properly'. I tossed it. I just used electrical tape to cover the hole in the lid (to make the lid into a solid lid, effectively). To refill, just pull the lid off (it is still attached by the ring that goes around the neck of the bottle) and pour. With a little practice, you can do this on the fly. I do it all the time -- reach back to the rear bottle ejection system, hope to find the bottle still there, grab it, and refill. (I don't use the rear bottle thing in a race, but for long (80+ miles) rides, it is useful to have so that I can limit my re-provisioning stops to one at most -- I don't like to stop.) |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() For an Oly you probably don't need to fill it? For anything longer you will but it's only for the first 40 minutes or so and then you've drunk it down to a decent level. I make a right mess refilling on the fly but lose surprisingly little when I look at the refill level. When racking my bike at Ironman Austria last weekend I realised I'd forgotten my straw (custom cut obviously) so had to make a 6am dash to the expo that was fortunately open... |

My profile design rear hydration system has never come close to ejecting a bottle. They are TIGHT in there. In fact, I have to wiggle and twist the bottles to get them out. On the other hand, I just bought a fancy schmancy carbon bottle holder for my downtube that has already ejected once... To the OP... I use a read hydration system for long solo rides, but ditch it and only use the Aerobottle + one other bottle on my bike (if needed) for races. |

The roads will make super-glued bottles come out of a rear bottle holder. Lost 6 in one weekend with the profile system. In order of preference. 1) downtube bottle replacing every stop, 2) camelbak, only for longer races. Takes a second, relatively aero, no issues, and if the camelback became an issue, 3) neverreach. I'll never ride with a spashydrink or a drinkflinger again. |

Iron Donkey![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I only put water in my aero bottle now, and put my InfinIT in the waterbottle on the downtube stem bottle cage. That has cut the sticky problems by about 98%. |

New user![]() | ![]() Switch it out for a bath poofy and shove it in about a little more than halfway in the neck (mine has no cap). These are a lot thicker than the piece of mesh that comes with it. It won't let stuff splash out unless you go offroading. ![]() Edited by rmansker 2009-07-12 6:29 PM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm always amused by how many of those yellow poofy things I see on the ground during races. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I switched to the SPEEDFILL system, holds 40 oz, easily refillable, and I have no splash problems. I hated the PD aero bottle for the same reasons. |

I heard about that happening at the St. Anthony's soon after I bought mine, so I threaded a 1/2 inch ring I cut from a coke bottle through the bottom of the poofy thing. I squeeze the ring to insert it into the bottle, and there's not bump in the world that will make it bounce out. |

![]() | ![]() I just have the yellow, poofy thing halfway in/out of the bottle and it works fine. I LOVE the PD bottle! X2 on the water only deal, though. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I turn the yellow thing sideways (horizontal) across the top of the drink bottle. Only on hard bumps will my Infinit splash a bit. |

That is the proper installation, 99.99% use it vertical, not sure why....I used a shower poof before i switched to bontrager aero drink. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I tossed the yellow thing and use a loof instead. If you get a big one if fits in snug and nothing comes out unless you fall over. |
![]() ![]() |
![]() | ![]() This is the best thing: Take a 20 oz. plastic bottle (water/coke/whatever), cut around the base and the bottle neck with a pair of scissors. Next complete a vertical cut so that you have a piece of food grade clear plastic. Take the foam disc and trace out and cut a plastic disc. Using a hole punch cut the holes in the plastic piece that hold it in place. Once you have this plastic disc that is safe, can be cleaned, you can then place that in the lid first and follow up with the foam disc. During your race you can pop the lid to refill and the foam and plastic disc won't fall out. I did this first with just the plastic and no foam..worked about 90% better, but since the disc is thin you can still use the foam....foam and plastic work awesome. The plastic wrap is good, but difficult if you want to get in there and close it while riding without issues. Try it, let me know what you think. |

Since going to the poofy I haven't had anything splash out of it. Like someone else mentioned, I only put water in my aero drink and have the concentrated Infinit in my cage bottles. |
