I'm one of those types that likes to name things. I built an instrument once and named it for the person who told me I'd never build an instrument. My first pair of acoustic guitars (6 and 12 strings) were named for Amy and Emily of the Indigo Girls. (I love the hard stuff for running, but I'm a folkie when I play.)

So now that I have nice wheels on my bike, aero bars, and a new saddle, I feel like it needs a name.(Raleigh Revenio 3.0 with Fulcrum 7 700 wheels and Fizik saddle

My username here is a Disney Toy Story reference, (think green aliens.) And my bike is black and lime green. I was thinking about Buzz Lightyear, but it might be obvious. Maybe something with a Doughboy reference, not sure what else besides Pillsbury, and I don't want that. I'm also into Phish, so a song lyric reference may be in order.

I'm open to suggestions. If I pick yours, I'll come up with some useless worthless prize to recognize the effort, so.... no big promises there. Cool

Sticking to your Toy Story theme, Andy's steed of choice was "Bullseye", so that's an option for your steed.

Or you could follow this helpful page:

Okay so I have  a question....the naming of bikes has recently came up amongst my lady rider friends.....Personally, I'm not into the naming of things other than kids and pets etc...but why do "things" get named a girl name?  Ships, cars, most bikes I've heard called by a female name...I was thinking of naming my bike (just for the sake of naming it cuz everyone else does, not that I personally feel that my bike needs a name) and I was thinking of a masculine name or a warrior name but the other girls named their bikes a feminine name (Sally, Bella, Penelope, etc) ...but I noticed you were thinking of buzz lightyear...clearly a male...hmmmmm.  what determines what gender you name your stuff?

My tri bike has a male name.  Long story.

As for Claaaw's bike's name, I like TriSte's idea of Sir Walter.

Because I think of the wrestler Mick Foley (aka Mankind) and his signature move the "mandible claw" when I see your handle.

Ok, you have moved into fave person category! I can think of so many Phish song references:

Esther or Eliza

Big Black Furry Creature from Mars

Halley's Comet

Magilla

You could always call it Mrs. Nesbitt (my favorite scene from Toy Story)

I will PM you the most awesome, epic crossover experience I had at a Phish show, where I got to help produce a piece of art with some well-known top industry pros. It's on my blog from July 2011 actually.

Can't go for Esther, since I believe it's a song about a little girl, and with all the weird bike-isms about your bike and climbing on and not being jealous and all that - can't do it. And, BBFCCM was the source of a neck injury at the show that led to a month of no swim training which I am convinced led to my 5k swim dnf.

Antelope?

Infinity and Beyond maybe....

Things have a woman's name because we want to boss a woman around but can't get away with it with real women. Northrup Gruman made the voice of the crash alert (aka "B!tching Betty") in the F-18 a woman because men will tune in better to that voice and react...

I named my bike Buttercup. Because she builds me up, baby, just to let me down...

Other great song references:
Maybeline (Chuck Berry) "why can't you be true"
Roxanne (Police)
Layla (Clapton)

Maybe name her after the best triathlete: Chrissie

Sorry I didn't stick with your Toy Story reference. How about Rex?

I like the toy story horse name. Or going with the horse theme...Black Beauty.

Or you could go on a derivation of what my sister-in-law named one of my black cars...She named it Black Booty - but maybe Black Big-Booty? (I'm merely saying that because you often mention that you consider yourself a larger man...not because I think you have a Big Booty)  Ohhh...just had an idea...Sir Mix Alot??

I've always wondered about gender in naming things...but for cars and bikes - if you're a guy, wouldn't you like to say you rode her hard? (Or hardly rode her if you have kids and are married :-P)

I've named my bike "Lil' Squirt" - because it's like an XXS women's bike (ok - I think it's actually an XS) and I saw this little turtle at the fair that looked like "Lil' Squirt" from finding Nemo. I spent a few bucks and finally popped a balloon - the guy wouldn't let me just buy it :-(  He is now zip tied (with green zip ties :-D) to the front end of my top tube :-)

Need pics and let us know what you decide :-D

Mine was named Spaz when I first got it, but I usually call it "You @#$%@$@%$" when I have to work on it!

Whatever you name it, don't forget to pee on it to mark your territory!
