Funny experience ....This song by Kenny Chesney has been out for years but I just heard the entire song for the first time today (so this is probably old hat). I had to listen to it again and... well, he's talking about about a different kind of pie.

Well, Key lime pie is really just cheesecake, and ... well ... cheesecake sure does have a different meaning.

BTW ... the world's best key lime pie is served in a little surf cafe just up the street from me in Bali. It's homemade. Who knew?

I've taken every visitor I've had there, including two south-east coasters (U.S.) and every last one of them agrees.

Something about key lime pie and hot black coffee, what a combination.  Last piece for me was Spring Break in Key Largo, FL.  Wow, wow, wow.  Now as far a cheesecake..........Wink

As soon as I walk into that little surf cafe, they bring me a piece of the pie and hot Bali coffee (which is served black).

I'm afraid you have been eating eally bad Key Lime Pie.  A good KLP tastes nothing like (nor has the texture of) cheesecake...

ETA: and if your KLP is green, walk away...

Key lime pie, yummmm

I respectfully disagree with her Yantiness. The best key lime pie is at Kermit's Key West Key Lime Shoppe,
in the KEYS of course!

Where do ya think it got its name?

Course I've never been to Bali so I won't argue too much

Well ... there are many different types of cheesecake. It so happens that the best key lime pie I've ever had (and all those I have led to it) does have the consistency of the BEST kind of cheesecake I've had (homemade by a specific person).

Neither the KLP nor those cheesecakes bear any resemblance whatsoever to KLPs or cheesecakes I've had in a commercial setting. In any other setting, 'smatter of fact.

P.S. KLP can be green???

DP

although ETA ... cheesecake or no cheesecake, for the purposes of symbolic comparison, key lime pie ought to be classified as a superior type of cheesecake.

I have never been to Bali either.  Guess a world KLP sampling tour is in order.  Combine that with competing in triathlon and you have a real vacation!  Not sure my family would enjoy spectating throughout our vacation; but they dig KLP!

Well ... if you come to Bali, you're looking at world's best tri and world's purportedly best KLP in one setting, and you're so well taken care of during the tri days that your family can go off and do a hundred thousand things more fun than watching you tri. Although here--doing anything means you'll wind up doing something different than originally planned, and just standing around on the street (as in watching a tri) there's going to be some fascinating stuff to see.

I'd protest, but if you put a piglet and a Pop Tart in front of me, gee, guess which one I'd eat first.

Why separate the two?

Because a freshly toasted Pop Tart sure puts a nasty brand on piglet skin.

I just learned of the existence of the song today from this thread. I hope I never hear the entire song. Or any portion of the song.

But I do like a real Key Lime pie

I make the best KLP, both traditional, and chocolate crust.

It is best served shortly after a fried grouper sammich, ( with homemade tartar, and a Red Stripe.)

That is all.
