Are blue jean shorts out of style?

I realized after reading your post that I have a couple pairs of jean shorts that I haven't worn in years.....but I can't remember why I quit wearing them. 

But hey, if wearing them will embarrass my kids.....I'm breaking them back out this summer!!

Jean shorts on men is a risky proposition. If they are current style, maybe. If they are from the 90s, definitely need to go in the donation pile. Anytime I see a man in those 90s jean shorts, I think mullet-head. The two seem to be inseparable. *shudder*

My personal taste: men can't go wrong with a pair of bermudas. These are mighty cute and you have 6 color options. Please, don't ever buy elastic waist banded shorts, or shorts with pleats.

If you look at the Lucky Jeans site, you'll see 1 pair of men's jean shorts (notice that nobody is modelling them), but 6 pair of womens denim shorts.

It's flip-flop day at the office. I am wearing these. They are a nice length; not as short as my 3 inch inseam shorts but not as long as my bermudas. We are a coastal culture in Florida and wear shorts year round, both casually and dressed up.

I own a pair of these. I wear them with flip flops to be casual, or with heels to dress it up. My butt looks awesome in them (according to my former hubby)!

I would say your daughter is right, for both men and women. Unless they are models like the previous picture posted. I haven't owned a pair of jean shorts since the 90s - but to be fair I rarely wear casual shorts outside of tri and run shorts. My parents do wear them sometimes and I giggle inside.

If you WANT to be more in style, I'd recommend a pair of cotton linen cargo shorts (more casual), or a dressier cotton short.

You mean jorts?  Yeah, those are not cool.  At least, not on a guy.  Haven't been for quite some time.  The only thing worse are cut off jorts!  I can't even remember the last time I wore those... maybe 1993?

I am down to 3 pair. 

And I just noticed that I am wearing the same shirt in those two pictures but they were taken a couple of years apart. But hey, it's the only Killington shirt I have from the only time I snowboarded there.

I have a couple pair that look almost exactly like those and I have a pair of cargo type jean shorts similar to these.
