My Cateye computer fell off bike when I was loading up after a ride yesterday. When I drove back from finding it today (crushed but Cateye has GREAT customer service.... woohoo) I saw a Nissan GT-R in my rear view mirror on I-85. If you're a car nut I don't have to explain about this car.

He ended up going right by neighborhood on the way back to Charlotte. We had several conversations at stoplights and had some fun on some roads when traffic allowed. Just an incredible car. He claimed he had 700 hp but who knows or cares. The car was a rocket sled and was amazing. Haven't ever seen a car accelerate that fast. First time I have seen one in person. He said the fastest he had gone was 170. I asked him what he did for a living and he said network marketing. Hmmm.

No it doesn't take much to make me happy sometimes. That's all.

I was driving home the other day and ended up behind a red Audi R8 convertible. Awesome bit of automobile, no doubt. The guy was only going 45, but I was hoping he would stomp on it and wind up that Ferrari V10 engine. No dice. I decided if I win the lottery the first thing I would do after giving family some only would be to march right down to the nearest Audi dealer and buy an R8.

Just read up on that car a little....wow.... and RED. Like you said it would have been nice to see that engine opened up a little.

Definitely a consideration for a lottery car. 911 Turbo S with launch control is another as is the GT-R. I think honestly I would probably get the 911, for its ease of daily driving and I could get it worked on fairly easy, I would tear it up.

The GT-R driver actually pulled up to me after I thought we were finished talking and rolled down his window. He said "You're driving it, aren't you ?" I replied that I was just trying to stay close enough to him to see it if he opened it up. He laughed and that's when he pushed it for just a few seconds... insanity. Public roads not the place for this but that thing is a beast.

Just got home from the Speedway to get a diet pepsi some nutrition and was parked next to a guy driving a pristine Lamborghini Jalpa. Jaw dropping.

Then on the way back to the house there were 3 convertible vintage Thunderbirds heading the other way. August in Detroit + Good Weather = Time to Cruise.

You can get 2 GTRs for the price of a 911T. GTR(Godzilla) is often called a playstation because the computers do everything. It makes ok drivers look godlike. Good if you're getting paid to win though. 0-100 because of the launch, awd, traction is unreal.

For a mere $10-20k you can get upgrades that make the GT-R faster than a Veyron. That makes the GT-R a bargain buy :-)

I'm in the market for a new car.  Could I fit my tri bike in a GTR?

Trying to remember what the Jalpa looks like before I search it. Ok, don't think I've ever seen a Jalpa in person. I remember someone had a Miura S in my hometown (Greenville SC) and that thing shrieked like a Banshee. Gave me chills when I heard it. Weren't those light in the front end at higher speeds ?

Great posts. This helps me get my car fix a little and with 2 kids in college starting next week this will be the extent of that for awhile.

What upgrades can you put on a GT-R to make it faster than a Veyron? I know the GT-R is an awesome car but I did not think that there was anything else that could be done to it. The GT-R though is the best bang for your buck as far as a super car (maybe?) will go. But a million dollar 1100 hp Veyron should be the dream of any car lover.

One of my favorite "lowly" cars is a Supra. I had a friend who had a double turbo charged Supra that would blow my 66 Mustang away. That car was insanely fast and my 66 had a 450 in it making it look like a matchbox toy on the line.

GReddy makes some great aftermarket parts for Nissan.

Hennessy also has a performance package for the GT-R.

I drive an Infiniti (a Nissan product) and was able to add 120 HP by adding turbos. Nissan tried to make the GT-R untuneable but where there's a will there's a way.

It cracks me up because I see Godzilla in our local Nissan Showroom.  One time I cruised the parking lot and there were actually 2 of them.  We don't really live in a big town so I've never seen any around (except for one with out-of-state plates) they probably trade with other dealers.

My cousin has a modded Z32 (last body style twin trubo 300Z) that pulls 700hp on the chassis dyno.  He has raced just about everything on a roll, and the GT-R really gave him a run.

It is all too much for me, I'll stick to my low mileage unmolested CRX Si hoping that it will be worth something someday.  I bought it for $1500 and I see ones in similar shape going for $6000.

If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. It is SO choice...

i came about 2 inches from getting side-swiped by a R8 last weekend coming home from dinner about 9pm.  an older gentleman and his not so older female passenger was swerving all over the road at varying speeds.  i went to pass him in my 7yr old nissan altima and he almost put me in the ditch.  i honked and gave him the finger and then he hammered the gas and took off.  it was fast.  although, i was secretly hoping he would have hit me so i could offer up a trade. i figured we could just swap cars and i would agree not to call the cops on his drunk as$.  o whell.

I work at a Mercedes-Benz/BMW/Cadillac dealership. We get some cool stuff to look at here. We are also the only high end dealer in town so we get a few Porsche, Ferrari's , etc. here for service as well.

Then I get in my 1997 Ford Taurus and drive home... Cry

I drive a Mazda CX5 crossover.  I believe it's 0-60 time is approximately 27 minutes if I use high octane fuel.

I've always loved the Dodge Viper's though so I've got permission to get one when the kids move off to college... can't wait

lol, that reminds me of a funny story back in high school.  I had a pretty cherri'd out 1980 Z-28 Camaro.  This brand new 1990ish Taurus SHO pulled up next to me and wanted to race.  I kind of laughed at him, but wasn't one to back down from a race.  Lets just say after about 10 seconds I didn't see anything but his tail lights about a block ahead of me.  My ego was crushed.
