Bowl schedule is mostly out now... where is your team going and what are your thoughts?

-UCLA will be playing Baylor in San Diego and I have to think we will be 7 point favorites.

-Northen Illinois could be 2 or 3 touchdown underdogs. You ran the table in a fairly terrible MAC and lost your only game against a BCS conference team... 4-8 Iowa.

-How is Boise ranked 15 in the Coaches Poll? The lost to the 6-6 Michigan St and San Diego St, and did't beat a ranked team all season. Their best win this season is Fresno St.... not exactly an impressive resume.

Well my two teams are playing each other. BSU vs UW in the Las Vegas bowl. I have no idea who will win. BSU isn't that great this year because oru QB is awful. UW is horribly inconsistent. I'll pick BSU because I think Coach Pete is one of the best at preparing his team to get up for one game.

Vegas Bowl is definitely a toss up. UW is the more talented team when they show up but you can flip a coin on whether or not that will be the case. Could be a great game.

Care to elaborate?

We match up very well against them. Its been the power offense/ strong defense teams that we have stuggled against this season. We cover a vertical passing game well and our offense should be able to put up points against a defense that has struggled to stop anyone this season.

Look at Baylor's last 5 games.....the 55th ranked defense in the country will not be able to keep them from scoring 50.....and UCLA will not match that on offense.

But hey, if you want to give me Baylor and 7.....I'm in!!  Laughing

My Alma Mater is going back to the BBVA Compass Bowl for the thrid straight time.

So Excited!!! We're going back to Birmingham!!!

But, if you're 6-6 and lose to Youngstown State in week 1, you have no reason to b!tch.

I don't know HOW New Era missed the opportunity to pair up Pitt v. West Virgina in the Pinstripe bowl? Instead they take New York's alleged home college team, Syracuse, to play them. That's not going to put butts in seats nor eyes on TV sets.

My horns are in the Alamo Bowl Vs Oregon State.  I don't get how they didn't make it to the National Championship Game?????? In all fairness, I'm still scratching my head as to how exactly we are still ranked????????????

I think the BCS REALLY worked itself out to be a joke this year (not considering the nat champ game).  Those match ups are horrendous.

I think Cotton is the most exciting bowl out there (after bama/ND), then probably the Holiday Bowl.  Then the Las Vegas Bowl and the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.  Those are really my top 4 and then of course Alamo bowl just cause I'm a horn.

My Cornhuskers get to go to the Capital One bowl to play Georgia.

I honestly feel sorry for Georgia because they were seconds away from the national championship game and the Huskers are a shadow of the team they should be.  We've got some serious issues and I suspect it will be a blowout to the extreme.

I guess there's always the chance that Georgia will overlook the Huskers and we can be competitive.  OK, probably not.

FSU Alum here.  Playing Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl.  If it were played on paper and talent the outcome would be 78-3.  But more realistically FSU's offense keeps NIU in it till the end 24-17 Noles win.

Curious what husker nation's temperature is on Pelini these days?  This morning I heard a commentator talking about how he's lost the team because no team puts up 70 points if the players are listening to (and doing) what the coaches say.  No idea if that's true, that's just what he said.

It's mixed, but personally I've been preaching Pelini needs to go for a couple years.  The team has consistently been way up there in penalties, which is very conducive to coaching.  They've been horrible with turnovers, coaching yet again.  The defensive scheme seems so bad vs. a mobile QB or a perimeter runner that it's downright embarrassing.  Play after play after play we have 8 guys crash down in the box and the DB/Safety's are the only ones left to tackle an outside runner.  That's all coaching, IMHO.

This is the first year that Pelini has 100% his own recruited players so he doesn't have any excuses.  We've got a new AD in town so I'm not sure if he'll have the moxy to look for big changes.  I guess we'll have to see how the bowl game goes.  If we lose huge on that one and get embarrassed again then the public pressure may be too much.

I've got a good friend whose son is a redshirt freshman down there this year.  I'll get the inside scoop on the players at some point, but I'm not sure yet.

Nebraska runs a two-gap defensive scheme that is meant to contain and not to pursue. The key is for the players to stay at their positions and not crash down on the ball as they did against Wisconsin. The problem, though, is that there's little pressure on the quarterback and if one player isn't disciplined enough to stick to his assignment, the whole play blows up. You have four down linemen `containing' the QB and guarding against the inside run, three or four DBs and that leaves three or four linebackers and safeties to protect basically anything outside the numbers, one or two on each side. If one guy is even a few feet out of place, it's Montee Ball and his sidekick torching you for 539 yards. Against Wiscy they were having two offensive linemen attack a 265-pound linebbacker who was playing d-line, knocking him 5-6 yards off and just having the running backs follow them through. When the running backs broke through the first layer, the seond layers was late getting into the play because the receivers had drug them so far downfield they weren't even in the picture til after 15-20 yards, at least. It was the perfect scheme for this defense, and UGA is going to exploit it even more than Wiscy did. It's going to be ugly.

I reckon Pelini has a year, two tops, under the new guy. Pelini doesn't like the hire, the hire doesn't like Pelini. If he doesn't win a Big 10 Championship, he gone.

My Bulldogs are playing Nebraska in Cap 1 Bowl. While I am a little disappointed in losing SECCG, the better team won. Can't give up 350+rushing yards and expect to win, IMHO.

Tony, wouldn't be so sure of the rout. We seem to play to level of competition. Sometimes up, sometimes down. Only blowout wins we had this year were Vandy and Ga Tech. Vandy because of things that were said after game last year and well .... we hate Tech.

and, What do y'all have against Birmingham?????  It's a prime location and a wonderful old stadium, in a historic part of town.

All kidding aside, if anyone ends up in Birmingham from Mississippi or Pitt, I'll steer you to some of the better places in town, as it does have it's bright spots.
