Quilting. Honestly! I have family that can do it and I'm so jealous of their creative eye and skills.

I've done them. Life's too short to not do stuff you believe would be worthwhile.

Fair enough. Any of those you'd like to do more of than you do now?

Not really. If it comes to that, I alter my schedule so I can.

I really mean it, I've lived to never say "I wish I had..."

Don't make unreasonable expectations for yourself.
Make your goals just out of your present reach.
figure out what the next step you need to do to reach one of your goals and do it.
Repeat that last step until you're there.
Keep that goal as a life task/hobby/job until something you want more comes along.

Always have that goal in mind. Always know what the next step is.

Travel more, particularly indulging my passions for trekking (Pacific Crest Trail, Snowkman Trek in Bhutan, etc.), non-technical climbing (Kilimanjaro, Mt. Kenya for starters), and bike touring. Maybe do an around-the-world bike trip if I could find some interesting folks to ride with and someone to help with security and bike repair. Get a really cool expensive camera to document all of this. Maybe take some time to study Buddhism in Nepal or India. I'd like to learn meditation and philosophy and some of the mind-body stuff I've heard about.

If time and money really weren't factors....retire and volunteer with kids/animals at risk and train full time; adopt tons of kitties, and hire a really good "nanny" to care for them when I travel. I used to do a lot of writing when I was younger but I don't seem to have any ideas these days; maybe I would if I didn't always have to be so focused on earning a living.

Play more music and do more art projects.

I would love to own some property near a great biking trail and have live music near the trail once a week.

Some of them:

I hold a Commercial, Instrument, Rotary Wing rating
I've flown in war, peace, cross country, taught kids, taught people new to the units
Been to about 14 countries, a few of them for a year or so at a time
Am employed by an organization that is literally a dream job for a whole lot of kids growing up
Taught myself the banjo (boyhood dream) and play it regularly.
Taught myself computers to the point that when I got out of the Army I got the job I have
Reload my own ammo as a relaxing hobby
competition shoot, pistols mostly
took up running and found out I needed to get my legs stronger to get back into it so I got a bike, which lead to.. well why I'm on this board.
Completed a couple Iron distance races
Am helping mom get to eye doctor to get her cataracts cut out (she's got 20/20 vision again at 80 years old) and all her other Dr visits
Work with my niece getting her fun stuff in her zombie hunting group she's got going in her HS
Made Eagle Scout
Helped build houses in Bosnia while we were there. The Muslims generally had their roofs blown off by the Serbs and we helped rebuild some. All volunteer, was not part of the mission.
Helped the local cat rescue shelter place the fur balls, including taking a 6 year old myself 'cause she is just an ornery cuss and I identified with her.

Those are just the little bits and pieces that come to mind immediately so I'll stop. It may sound like bragging and it probably is but you asked.

Right now about all that's left is buying that side of a hill in Alabama, putting a house with a front porch on it. Getting the pickle barrel, checker board and a couple rockers and pickin' and a-grinnin' for retirement. Enough land to have a shooting range in my back yard. I'm already well along the path of making that happen too.

Very cool Daniel. I think your approach is solid.  Really, why not?

I like the vision you have your future too.

I think my "problem" is that there are so many things on my list.  I need to work on prioritizing them better.

Learning banjo is on my short list:)

Well, get started!

That's a cheap and easy method to see if you want to pursue it further

We might even be able to come to terms on a starter Washburn B9 I've got hanging around here...

Most of the things that I've wanted to do, I've been lucky enough to do - though there are two that readily come to mind if time and money were taken out of the equation...

Travel more

Race motorcycles/Dakar

Have a luxury suite for the Grizzlies home games with a downtown Apartment for game days.

Take some adventure trips, bike, hike, motorcycle etc.

So when it comes to triathlon, the largest investment we make, in both terms, comes in the bike. Looking at ways to get faster, while considering a budget, is a bind for most triathletes.

A few factors are at the basis of increasing running speed. In my experience these factors are: variety, “pain,” time and injury prevention.
