What's the difference between the Dual and the P2SL? Is the P2SL the next iteration of the dual? They look pretty similar, other than the wheel cutout on the P2.

The P2SL is still being manufactured while the Dual isn't?

Are you saying that other than that, there's no difference? Given that, is it reasonable that a bike shop should be selling them for around the same price? I was looking at the website of a LBS today, and they had an D-A Dual and a D-A P2SL for a nearly identical price.

No, what I'm saying is that's the biggest current difference.

IIRC, the biggest difference between the two was the rear wheel cuout, though the P2SLmay have been specced out a little better. If your LBShas the two bikes, compare them in person.

Are we talking new old stock? What year?

The P2SL replaced the dual as the entry level bike. It has a slighty more aero frame.

But in order to keep the costs close, they had to get the money from somewhere and that's in components. The aerobar deck is way cheaper on the p2sl as are the wheels and the crank is different (lower brand/grade). They also have the anodized paint option (really hard to scratch or damage) instead of the gloss. Derailers and shifters are still same, duraace or ultegra depending on model. The seat is some generic profile design comfort seat as well.

My buddy has a dual from 2 years ago while I have a new p2sl so we've done all the inspecting. I lucked out and got the duraace/anodized version but downgraded to ultegra and saved a few hundred bucks.

I looked at both as well and I ended up with the P2SL due to the anodized paint job and more aero frame. Unfortunately, you will want to upgrade the Shimano rims for racing at least as they are tanks. I also upgraded the Profile Design seat to a Fizik Arione Tri 2 as it made my junk fall asleep. I ultimately got it because of the anodized finish though because I have small kids and I figured the paint would get beat up. But for the money, a very good deal overall.
