Ok, I'm in on this game. I was actually going to start a disingenuously named thread called: "Girls Only: About premenopausal menstruation:" which would have kept at least 30% of the guys out of the thread (the other 70% just can't help themselves).

I do not understand how men got the reputation for being the stronger sex. I don't understand how women got the reputation for being emotionally frail. I have met so many terrified men that it mystifies me how they got their gender rep. Great PR - all smoke and mirrors!!!

The strongest humans I know are women. All women!

I like this one too, HOWEVER, I know why I need a man. It's not a mystery and it's all good. At least my blender doesn't run away.

My impression of men? The scene from Monty Python & The Holy Grail:

Run away! Run away!

But do we really need them?  It's nice to have a special someone in your life, but are men a need or just a want?  Any ladies to comment?

Define need and define want, Janelle.

I need a man's warm touch. I need affection, the romantic and sexual kinds. I need intimacy, emotional and sexual. I need to be understood. I have no trouble whatsoever saying I need these things. It doesn't make me less strong, independent or feisty. I like that I need a man for these things.

I don't need:

Run away! Run away!

Ahhhhhh but Russ, here's the rub:

I'm not unhappy. I'm happy! I like my life and I like who I am. I like my friends and I enjoy pursuing my interests.

I am experiencing an attention deficit and this makes me a bit antsy when the deficit is prolonged... but it does not make me unhappy.

Maybe your dating base should include more men over 25. Or maybe it's you who provides the terror?

And Renee in all seriosness I must admit that, that is how all of us deserve to feel about ourselves. Men and women need to first find satisfaction within themselves and then they can be comfortable with one another or without one another.

But thinking like that will never get me inducted into the Legends of the NWA.

Hyuck hyuck hyuck

  1. They (20s) weren't dates.
  2. The last guy I dated was 47. He said he was terrified of relationships, not terrified of ME.
  3. I'm as soft as warm ocean water.
  4. If being candid and courageous strikes terror in a man, I don't want him. I'm only interested in a Man.

I am the only guy in our household and by definition the dumbest person as well.  But, I am well-trained.  I can tell a girl over the phone how to jump start a car without blowing up the rectifiers in the alternator.  I can hook up and operate a DVD player. I know how the remotes work on most TV's, even those obscure buttons that make the TV do weird things.  I can carry all the suitcases in from the car and put them in the correct bedrooms.  I can bring in load of firewood and start a fire.  I can remember all the telephone numbers.  And so on.

Here's sample conversation from Christmas with all the girls home.  They were discussing girly stuff.  Geezerette #2, "We shouldn't talk about this stuff with guys around." Geezerette  #3, "Daddy's not a guy."  Geezerette #1, "Daddy's like a guy, only smaller."  Much laughter.

Have fun girls.

I'm not interested in a boy of any kind.

In general, however, only women girls who like to fix boys are interested in bad boys. If you're busy fixing someone else, you'll feel too much of the martyr to even imagine that you have to fix yourself first.

Well on one hand no you don't "need" a man. But Janelle you do need a man since you want to be married and have kids. You can have kids and be strong and raise them on your own, but that would require a sexual relationship without being married. Or invitro. Take your pick.

I think if thats what you want out of life then you need a man. I don't think needing a man to fulfill those needs makes you weak.
