An US Army Private (?) won gold in the Double Trap.

You would think the USA would take all shooting medals.  Maybe we just don't care much for air rifles though.

Why would "you" think that? I bet if you ever watched a broadcast other than NBC or ABC you'd see there are countries out there that are just as able as the almight superpower; the United States of America. A Canadian holds the record for longest confirmed kill using a 50 cal. just as an example. I love the US approach to most everything; Shock and Awe - hit the enemy with mass numbers and you will win.

You would get a different prospective on the world if you could watch a different channel...and before someone asks...I don't hate America...I've worked a lot in the States and have even worked in Iraq along side the Military

WOOHOO! GO ARMY! I'm a little biased though.  The Army actually had several members qualify for various shooting events. While not medaling, here is a little snippet about Cadet Stephen Scherer who just finished his freshman (plebe) year at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point and placed 27th in men's 10m air rifle.  He was the only teenager in the competition.  From things I read last year about CDT Scherer, he just recently took up the sport, so definitely some promising prospects for him in the future.

From the USMA Sports homepage:
Stephen Scherer is the first West Point Cadet to compete at the Olympics since runner Ronald Zinn (USMA ’62) participated at the 1960 Games in Rome during his cadet days and again in 1964 ... the Billerica, Mass., native is the third West Pointer to compete at the Olympics in shooting, but first since Dean Hudnett (USMA ’16) was a contender at the 1963 Olympics in Berlin ... the first to compete in shooting was Sidney Hinds (USMA ’20) who participated at the 1924 Games in Paris ... Scherer is one of two cadets competing at the 2008 Olympics Games ... classmate Stewart Glenister is a member of American Samoa’s swimming and diving team ... Army swimming and diving coach Mickey Wender was selected to be the head coach for American Samoa

Why????

Because the USA has alot of guns, and people like guns in the USA and we have the NRA, and maybe if we had a medal for the .44 magnum.....

And I have watched most of the Olympics on CBC.    And thumbs up to the  Canadian Sniper team that got the confirmed long distance shot.

Even though we are Navy, I was so happy to see a member of our armed forces bring home the gold or any medal for that matter.  Great job!

Oh, Go Navy!  Beat Army!
