Yesterday AM, a woman out for a jog with her baby in a stroller was hit and killed not far from my house. http://www.twincities.com/ci_13363447

That's maybe a mile or so from where I live, and on my regular walking/running/riding route.

The kid was not charged, and it sounds like just a terrible, terrible accident.

I feel horrible--not just for the woman, her baby, and her family... but also for that kid. There are a lot of kids out in this area, driving around, and I'm not so old I can't remember being that age with my first car. We all look back to when we were kids (14-22 or so), driving around...and think there bit for the grace of god, I suppose. Very sad.

I saw the article in the paper this morning but didn't have time to read it.  Very sad.  My son is 15 and has his permit - so scary.

Oh man.  I'm sure we've all be surprised by the blinding dew/morning sun windshield effect.  That's too bad.  Thankfully the baby survived.

What scares me is (esp. this time of year), I pull on to campus (I work at the U of M) right when the sun is at the horrid angle where you can't see ANYTHING. I am so so cautious, but college kids aren't always the most aware of their surroundings, and are always just appearing on the road... One of my worst fears is accidentally hitting someone I totally oculdn't see.

What's not clear in the story is what side of the road the woman was walking on. Since she was struck from behind, it would lead me to believe that she may have been walking in the same direction as traffic.

Just the same, it's a tragedy.

I read the story this morning. Sounds like the guy who hit her is a good kid. Hopefully everyone can move on from this terrible tragedy.
