Run
Comments: I had hoped to run this under 1:40, with 1:35 as the big goal. Then I went and got sick, so I decided to just run with RPE, didnt really look at teh Garmin. Kept it comfortable. Tried to pick it up at mile 9 but everytime I pushed it, I really felt it in my chest. There was a lady in bright pink in front of me the whole way, starting at mile 8, I felt like I was starting to make ground on her and eventually caught her around mile 11.5. This is a PR. I ran 1:40:XX at Soma HIM. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Couldnt help getting a cold. Did pretty good under the circumstances. Post race
Warm down: Met up with JT. He ran a 1:27 which put him 11th overall and 2nd in his AG- this was his first half, so proud of him! Then we found our friends who had cheered for us along the route and at the finish. Sad to find out my frind John didnt finish the marathon due to an injury flare up :( What limited your ability to perform faster: Having a cold :-( Event comments: Great event. I sat this out last year due to an IT band injury so it was extra nice to be out there running instead of cheering on! I would love to do the full marathon next year, almost signed up for it this time but got lazy after IMAZ. Last updated: 2010-02-13 12:00 AM

The kids were at Grandmas so it was just JT and I getting ready to leave. I've had a bad cold since friday, debated whether or not to take any meds, decided not to. Packed some extra tissues and decided to give it my best shot. We parked at Westgate and caught the shuttle (school bus) to the start at Estrella community college. Warmed up for about a mile and chatted with some friends, by the time we got through the porta-potty line for the 2nd time, it was time to line up.
