Crazy!
Also, I'd always heard the watch doesn't work to wear it on your wrist, but the last race I did registered a great signal, have you tried that with your 910XT (that's what I have ) in OWS mode to see if it works? Not trying to talk you out of a new gadget, just wondered.
It's an awesome pool.
Mike and I were there yesterday and he did have the watch in OWS mode.
I also have the 910xt and I always put it in OWS mode when I use it there. It works as well as any open water swimming. Normally doing front crawl it gets enough data points each time you bring your arm out of the water. But the GPS still seems to get lost -- I should try the swim cap method.
Here's my swim from yesterday: http://www.strava.com/activities/164120881
Oddly, even with the zig zagging, and my total distance was pretty close. It seems the short ones averaged with the long ones. I did 7 laps, so 1925m (about 1.2 miles ). The lap list in Strava shows only my moving laps, not the rest "laps".
I like that the Fenix can have longer lap distances, but I've heard the run data isn't as good with that watch. I wish Garmin would do a firmware update on the 910xt to fix that. Lots of people want shorter than 20m or 20 yards, too (for things like hotel pools ). Edited by jennifer_runs 2014-07-11 5:11 PM
