February Conquer Your Limiter Challenge

It's February ! Triathlon season is getting closer. Are you ready to take on a Limiter challenge ?

What is limiting your triathlon performance? Is it skill, technique, strength, muscular endurance, power or pure endurance? Sit down and look at all the disciplines in a triathlon: swim; bike; run and transition be honest and mark yourself out of 10 for each one.

For this challenge, you set goals in TWO Sports .
One sport must be Your LIMITER .. the one you struggle with ! The Limiter will be different for everyone. This is where gains in fitness endurance and strength during the off season will net you the most during the season . For myself it's the swim . i need more endurance and more speed.
You define the two Sports Goals . You can of course do more but pick two you will set goals for the february and track with us .
You set the goals. Been avoiding the pool or the trainer . Only get to to swim once in a while ? Only want to bike once? Should really hit the weights twice a week but havent ? YOU decide, and set your goals accordingly.

Still on single sport winter schedule : You could even break down running into say 75 miles for goal 1 and then second goal is 4 track workouts (for speedwork) .


The ultimate goal of this Challenge is to push yourself in an activity that is a challenge to you (or activities), to work out, to meet fellow BTers (virtually or otherwise), and to have some fun!

Hopefully, this Challenge will give you a little extra incentive and motivation to succeed at your Limiter Sport goal – Be it Run Swim Bike transition , whatever they may be.

My limiter is strength. My second one will keep running from January (gotta figure that up) but other than that - it is going to be tracking nutrition. That is another big limiter. I need to do better tracking nutrition - I want to drop the weight but think I need to do better at nutrition to get the scale to move.

Good for you. I have been tracking EVERYTHING lately. I have not lost (that had a lot to do with not working out as much last month). It is good to know what nutrients I am getting. Turns out, potassium is just not getting it with my food. Who knew?

OK!  I'm in!  My workouts are going to look lame for the first couple of weeks though.  I'll be away.  Don't worry, though.  I think I accounted for it. Sealed

I'll be swimming 12000 yards and cycling 230 miles.  If the spreadsheet is not up before I go, can someone please add my goals to it?

Swimming is, definitely, my limiter.  I just don't enjoy it as much as running and cycling.  I feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish a good swimming workout, though.

I'm good a cycling.  It's on the list this month because I have a time trial the first weekend in March.  I need to get my cycling legs under me!

I'm in! I'm in a run-only mode right now, so I'm going to steal the limiter goal of tracking my eating.

I will track my eating 16 days out of 29.
I will run 83 miles (which is following my training plan).

I'm in again. My limiter will be RUNNING (cause I'm utter shite at it!) Will work out a total later today or tonight :D

 

I'll also add strength training to that too!

Swimming is my also my limiter, and biking is, well, the least of my limiters. I'm going to pledge to get in the pool more often than I get on my bike. Since I'm pretty set on getting through Jorge's 4x per week bike plan right now, that means at least 17 swim sessions for the month. Gulp.

Second goal is to add at least one interval per week to one of Jorge's bike workouts.

I totally had to add myself to the Leipheimer team!  Since he has adopted northern CA as his home base and a friend of mine rides on his roads all the time, it's a no brainer! Laughing

Limiter #1 - Strength workouts - 11 sessions to do this month

Limiter #2 - Keep working on ramping up the Run - 13 sessions this month.

As an extra - item #3 - Bike workouts - 12 sessions.

I have again mapped out the month and hope to stick to these workouts. If I do it will hopefully help me stay on point when I travel and possibly family in town 3 of the 4 weeks in March.

I would suggest perhaps swimming or riding (if that's possible for you) more than running especially if you have had some injuries last year .
Anyways that's what i am doing this month, i have a knee that needs a rest from running 5 days a week.
