I have my first tri tomorrow morning.  My training has gone well  and thanks to my friends, Lily and Debra,  this great website and great bunch of athletes I feel I am as prepared as I could possibly be.  Some of the important things you have taught me for my first tri

1. Be prepared mentally as well as physically

2. Keep it simple in transition

3. SMILE and have fun

My last question before the big day, how well do you sleep the night before the big day?  Thank God I slept well the last 2 nights, somehow I think tonight might be different!

I've always heard that the night before is not as important as the night before that, so you're good. Good luck and have fun!

I never sleep more than 4 hours the night before a tri.  It's not nerves, it's just something different in the routine.  You'll be fine.  And probably enjoy a good nap after you're done!

 Have a blast!

I didn't sleep very well at all the night before either.  Although, I wouldn't recommend beer as something to help as alcohol typically makes what rest you get not as deep.  And it's dehydrating.  But, each person is different so you make your choice.  Good luck!

I lay in bed awake pretty much the whole night before my first tri and fretted about not getting any sleep. But I felt fine doing the event. Once you get up the adrenaline takes over. There is so much energy at the event to feed off of. Having said that, afterwards I was VERY ready for a nap! Good luck tomorrow. I thought it was very cool to do my first tri. Try not to worry about it too much - seems like you are well prepared. And don't be afraid to ask for help setting up. Even though I thought I was prepared, someone still gave me valuable pointers on the morning of the event (seemingly obvious stuff like "that little number goes on your helmet" and "you seem to be in the wrong rack".
