Recently I have gotten a lot of unusual comments about how I look.  I have been described as being; sticky, gristly, lean motherf@&%er, sinewy, ripped and fit.

 I like fit.  Smile

I was having a conversation with a few other women about weight issues and one of them said "PLEASE, I could scrub my dish towels on your abs".  Now that's nowhere close to being true but it was nice to hear!

I don't exactly have a tri physique so I'm not sure how to answer it.  I did lean up this year, but I was going to do that anyway.

conversation with a co-worker went something like this...

C: with how much you workout you must be in great shape!
M: well...I guess round is a shape right?
C: I would say you look more like an oval...
M: well an oval does have better aerodynamics.

Besides: you stink! take a shower!  and you have NICE legs...
the best one by some guy at the gym is (mind you this is the kind of guy that doesn't filter things)
"If more women looked like you there'd be less divorces"

My husband not only loved this but told the girls soccer coach, so now he says the same thing to me everytime he sees me.

My favorite reply that I made was:
"How did you get a body like that"
"Try having 2 kids 18 months apart"

My BF stated the other day: "HIM training agrees with you - you should do more of these."

I guess my favourite word is "strong".

I've had a lot of people this spring ask me how much weight I've lost (0 pounds over the last 11 months, but I was down 5 about a month ago).

I usually get arm comments....
" can I have your guns"
and similar ones along those lines. Before I gained weight people thought I looked like a gymnast ( was for many years).
A few months ago a man asked me if I was related to Shawn Johnson

I am stick skinny.  I always have been and I have always hated it.  However, this weekend my friend said "Wow!  Look at your shoulders.  You are getting some arms."  I was flying high as a kite after that comment.

As a swimmer all my life, I've always had that wide shoulder V shape, but at 56, not too many women or guys comment on my shape anymore, so I have to admire the work myself.  Although after my first 9 months of biking, my training partner said WOW look at your calves.

As a side though, in watching the Tour de France, how much do those guys weigh, like 90 pounds, and all thigh and calf.

People used to constant ask me if I swim (before I did tri's)...I was just born with wide shoulders and muscular arms...I played basketball when I was younger but my main sport was soccer and that doesn't really work your arms much so I have no idea how I have the arms I do...but now I can tell people I swim since I've been doing for about 5/6 months now...so that's good.

I had a funny thing happen at work...A co worker of mine was introducing me to her husband...and she said "she's the triathlete...can't you tell?" All I can say is AWKWARD...he didn't say anything by the way. probably good.

My wife said that my hair was looking thicker.  Wonder if that is from training or Rogaine.

Quite a long time ago, back when I was young, single, and a 2:38 marathoner, I was at a party when I overheard someone ask the woman that I was with if I was sick with cancer or HIV or something because I was so thin.  She laughed it off but, it bugged me.

It was, however, one of the events that got me to start to spend more time lifting and start swimming.  I did my first tri a year later and have never looked back.  I'm still lean, but I don't look like a POW anymore.

A coworker of mine (who has dabbled in road biking, but can't get over the road crashign aspect) has commented that roadies tend to get a look that is similar to a praying mantis, hehe

also, not to rain on everyone's parade, but I do see a lot of people e-statting their bodyfat % numbers.  Some boasting sub 10% while their arms are still quite smooth.  Skinny doesn't necessarily mean lean.
