What does HTFU mean? I assume it means "Hurry the F*ck up". But if it does mean that, then people are using it for any answer, which I guess would go along with words like "pwned" for "owned". Little sense, more of a buzz thing.

Harden.

I thought it meant "hurry," too, when I first came onto BT.

As in, "HTFU.  Who cares if you heard a POP!! in your leg.  Do your race."

Kidding.  That is an example of a bad use of HTFU.

Harden.  Means, unless you are hemorrhaging from your eyes, or you have broken a critical bone, or 3, to keep going.

WOW, A buddy of mine just got hit by a car yesterday while riding his new tri bike.

He's spending his 2nd night at Yale New Haven Hospital tonight for precautionary reasons after getting his ear REATTACHED. His ear was 80% torn off. He also has a major head cut. You should see his helmet. The left side of it was demolished and spattered with blood. It clearly saved his life, or saved him from a lifetime disability. I'll post photos when I get them.

HTFU? He's HARD as nails. He's pissed that he might have a broken rib that will interfere with training for our 70.3 in Rhode Island next month.

Hats off to my man Toby Kulas, our team's "HTFU Man-Of-The-Year".
And THANK YOU GOD for going easy on him yesterday.

My vote for the BTer who lives HTFU is Michelle (Shelly123).  She broke her collar bone 5 weeks before Lake Placid last year and with little training that last 5 weeks still finished in a respectable time.  Swimming 2.4 miles with a broken collar bone must have hurt a lot.

WOW, I am glad that he is still alive. How is his bike?

I think this thread is great!! I just PM'ed a member the other day to inquire what HTFU was.

Glad that was ALL he got out of the accident and didn't become a statistic.

Coldfire,
We haven't seen the bike yet. Tob is STILL in the hosiptal. All of the crew is chipping in to buy him new gear (helmet, shorts & jersey)...any extra money will go towards his tri bike. His wife is no expert but thinks it might just be a mangled rear wheel.

Just bumping this because I bet some of the other newbies wondered what it meant. I guessed it was "Hurry the F*ck Up).  I like "Harden" even better.  My husband always says just "throw some dirt on it" in response to injuries; sort of the same idea as HTFU
