Subject: RE: 13 weeks to a 13 hour ironmanHey Moab - It wouldn't hurt to check out Don Fink's BeIronFit program too. He offers 3 different plans, each peaking with more or less volume. Each plan is 30 weeks, and I know you're looking at 13 weeks, but speaking from my own experience I've used Gale's plans and Don's plans and for me personally I prefer Don's "sequencing" of workouts and overall plan. In other words, not just one particular workout or volume, etc. but rather how the plan makes me feel week to week the way the workouts are synchronized. Maybe with your current base you could pick up the plan in a later week? Frankly in week 30 it's only 6 hours of training anyway, so with any decent base you could potentially skip some initial weeks. Just another option... Oh - I used the BIF plan for my first Ironman, IM WI in 09. I followed the "30 week competitive plan" and it was great for me. Although I finished in 14:10, I had a smile the entire day. Cheers, Tim |
