Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Since Brian hasn't posted this yet, I thought I would. Post your thoughts on the race here. Mine are as follows: The swim.. probably the same as everyone else's. The weeds are a major issue and need to be addressed. It's going to hurt future participation in this event if this continues to be an issue every year. I can say that the weeds are not THAT big of an issue, but the reality is, they are. If someone else wants to go head to head with TRI-PTC, they now have an opening. No weeds, no chance. Every other aspect of this race is first class. The bike.. I like this bike. It goes by SO quick. There was rain, but it was not really an issue. Not too many straight away sections. Fairly technical with more then average amount of turns, and the type of turns. Good course. Was not crowded either. Part I didn't like was the turn into the finish around the back of the hall. I got stuck behind a girl from sports factory who was taking her sweet time, and was not going to let me pass. I don't remember if it was a no passing zone this year or not, but it was in 2006. So I maintained my position behind her. A lil frustrating. The run.. Best 5k course in all of spintdom. Well, that I have done. This may sound like an excuse, but I can assure you, it's not. If my legs were normal, I go sub 20. Easily. That course was built for me. I did 22 this year. Transition. Big, and sandy in places. It was cool. My spot out of the water was good, but bike out and bike in was a hike. I think it was set up well overall. Amazing that nearly 1000 racers fit in there. A major feat. Tri PTC is one of the best run races in the area. Great swag, excellent overall management, great volunteers, and even post race food. The fact that they made an attempt to remove some of the weeds shows their commitment to the athletes. I wore my BT tri outfit and had a few shoutouts. BT is everywhere. That's awesome. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() CoSine all the above..I wasn't too sure whether the last part of the bike was no-pass or not and definitely lost a wee bit 'o time while a couple of folks moved cautiously up to the dismount zone but no big deal.. Lake: Well, the vegetation was kind of interesting but not a hysterical impediment, either. Just as soon not swim through the stuff but hardly a reason to not do the race. 'Twas my first time-trial swim start: Pro - You have clear water vs. elbows and heels. Con - Impossible to keep track of your AG competition. Run course was fast, period/paragraph. Beautifully organized and staffed.. My first time there..I'll be back, for sure. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The course was great. The bike course had enough turns and hills to be intresting and was pretty fast despite the rain and wind. The run course was great. Flat and fast! The weeds were more of a novelty than anything, they didn't get in the way. I could see how someone who is nervous in the water may get freaked out, but, the weeds didn't detract from my race. The volunteers were excellent and the crowd support was great. I also had a sweet transition spot. I was right next to the run exit. I really enjoyed this race. Kudos to the organizers! |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Tri PTC is one of the best run races in the area. Great swag, excellent overall management, great volunteers, and even post race food. The fact that they made an attempt to remove some of the weeds shows their commitment to the athletes. Kim Bramblett is a first rate race director ... the PTC events are on par with, if they do not exceed that of St. Anthony's, Gulf Coast and other regional "A" races. Of the things she could control, they were handled beautifully. The aquatic weeds, however, are something that she cannot necessarily control. They have not been so much of an issue this year and was told by one club member that the City will be getting involved in their eradication next year. Excellent race with some super-fast + fit people running it. As always, great swag (like the little rope bag + socks), good food, even a small little expo. It is no wonder that it sells out each year. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I agree with everyone. This is my 4th year doing this race and I always look forward to it. Kim does a great job along with all the club members/volunteers. Love the pool bags this year. The lake is what it is and having the city help out with the grass will help. Love the bike course. Love the run course. The wind and misty rain made for interesting times this year as I saw several guys in my AG 2-4 mins off last years times. I gave it my all, with a avg HR of 181 and was still 50 sec off last years time, most of that coming on the run. Must have overcooked it on the bike in the wind. Overall LOVE the race, already have it on the schedule for next season once again. FM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Agree with Rell and others. This is tied in my mind with Chattanooga Waterfront as the best race that I have done. |

Member![]() | ![]() I did hear the reason the seaweed was so bad this year is because all the carp were killed off and the city did not re-plant them. They do plan on bringing the carp population back now. Has anybody else heard this? |
