Subject: RE: Total Annual Distance s/b/r/ for IM level Tri ersI had been searching individual's race reports and logs, but it was a bit hit or miss. This thread has really given me an idea of what vollume I need because so many folks were generous enough to toss there data out here. Then I can just do a trend analysis and find what basic vollume I would be comfortable with attempting my first IM.
I realize that speed, event specific focus and individual training stength based on years of training impact vollume in some ways, but the trend is (with an emphasis on what I personally would feel comfortable competing with ) as I said above:
Bike 3k miles
Run 1k miles
Swim 200,000 yards
and ya have a decent shot at finishing an IM. (there are other assumptions about your training, health, nutritian, base, mental toughness, equipment, etc. etc. but this looks like the basic "when will "I" be ready for an IM" information I was seeking. ) Thanks again to everyone. Hopefully it will be helpful to others to see where they fall in their training vollume in comparison to there peers and what it takes to get to the next level. Or for all of us gona do an IM one of these years, but not sure where to peg it folks. Edited by Baowolf 2008-09-13 10:48 AM
