Subject: RE: PR0N?Haha, you guys are pretty funny. Thanks for the compliments. I actually rode a $400 RockHopper for years. I bought it knowing that it might just sit in the garage, but it never sat. I was doing some epic rides on that bike in a T-Shirt, baggy shorts and dirty tennis shoes. It's no wonder I got the stink-eye. I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger on this bike. I love the serenity of a long ride and will always cycle, so this isnt a short term thing.
Triathlon is, however, something I'm experiementing with. I've always wanted to race, and have been thinking about it since the days of the Bud Light USTS, but never got around to it. I have an Oly scheduled for 10/26 and another for 11/8. If I like them as much as I think I will, I'll be signing up for "The Toughest Half" (Auburn) next year, and then maybe Vineman. I'll probably go with a P3C, Dura Ace, 808s, etc, etc, if I end up with a proper tri bike. We'll see how that goes. Oh, and you should know that the bike pictured only had 15 miles on it. On mile 4 of my first ride, one of my cleats came apart. I had to limp back to a LBS for a quick fix. On mile 10, I couldnt get clipped in and fell over, snapping those $350 Ritchie bars and tweaking my front wheel. The bars pictured are new along with a first tape job from yours truly. Funny... after reading the stories about people falling over, I was sure it would never happen to me. Anyway, hundreds of miles later, no more crashes.
