I'm downtown and doing Arizona...but I'd be game for a group ride depending on the distance.

That's where I work out also. Have been trying to get my swim back for the past couple of weeks.

Is that the same weekend as the Cardinal Harbour Half Iron?

As far as I can tell, the date for Cardinal Harbour hasn't been set yet: http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=139650

I hope to do the July 26th ride that timdude mentioned. Since I might have a scheduling conflict on 7/26, I'd also be interested in another course run/ride.

According to Trifind.net, Cardinal Harbour is set for July 18, 2009. I did this race in 2008, and I plan on doing it again in 2009. It was great practice for IMLou!

Hey Steve...my sister and her boyfriend (also Ironman fanatics) live in the area...have you heard of Jen Noie or Brad Moore?

Pegasus1731 - 2008-12-14 4:03 PM 258 days!

Till what?

Oh, you mean till IMKY?  Hmmm, is that 258 days counting today or like from tomorrow?

:-)

I figure my semi-official training period will start in March.

Thanks for bumping this thread up.  I was beginning to think IMKY was the red-headed stepchild of the IM races or people were gun-shy about posting about it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Between the bad weather and the holidays I feel like just laying around and watching reruns of Matlock

I have been slacker central since IMAZ last month. I am giving myself one more week to screw around, eat crap, stay up way to late and not do much of anything. Tomorrow night I am going to a concert and probably having a "few" too many beverages.

A couple of Christmas parties later in the week and then time to try to figure out how to lose about 40 pounds so those hills don't kill me too bad.

wiky - 2008-12-18 8:37 AM Any estimate on % of entrants that actually start?

IMKY 2008 Numbers

2,644 registered

1,975 starters

669 DNS (25.3%)

1,793 finishers

182 DNF (9.2%)

DNS + DNF = 851 (32.2%)

Net % finishers:    67.8%

You can do the math based on these numbers.

Wow.  I had no idea there are so many DNS,  That's incredible, given what you pay to play.

I hope people will look at these numbers and realize that making it to the starting line is 90% of the battle.  An IM journey is about the training...the actual race is cake compared to the preparation.
