Deer Creek Triathlon - Sprint : Official Thread

Definitely best of luck to you.  I just finished my first season and I'm already nostalgic for how I felt after my first race that lifetime ago.

Best thing to do is to read the forums, especially Triathlon Talk.  Oh, and they're also starting up the 2009 Mentor Program.  When they make the announcement to join, I would TOTALLY recommend signing up for one.  I've been in 2 and they're fantastic in so many ways.  You've got to jump on immediately, though, as they close fast.

Also, be sure to check in on the Ohio forums, too.  Lots of great advice in general and in regard to the local scene - as you can see.

I like the bike course. Mostly flat and fast with 2 (or maybe 3) good sized hills at the end of each loop.

The run course is mostly flat. There is one section, run twice on each loop that crosses a grassy area. It's maybe .25 mile. Watch you speed and ankles going across the grass, it's a good place to twist an ankle. The run course offers no shade at all. Last year it was really hot and I saw several people being carried away due to heat exaustion.

I'm in for my first half Iron Man.

Really excited about doing this.  

Is there a course map posted somewhere?

 Yep pretty flat -brief 5% but otherwise +2-4 in the end of the loop.

I've done the race 3 times (2 chances per year).  I'll be there again in June.  I do this race because it is so close to home.

After reading this I just became aware of the June Deercreek - I thought we were talking September here.

Also I failed to read the topic heading which says "sprint"

I will be at the race as well, have not chosen my distance though.
