Its kind of awesome timing hitting the 20K mark at the end of my best tri season ever!
Why best… well for the first time since I discovered the sport in 2005 I haven’t been injured, I have been able to keep my health under control and all this means I have been able to train consistently…as a result I finished my first sprint in 3 years!
But the most AMAZING part of this season took part on February 1 when a large group of girls from my office all completed their first triathlons. In total we had 14 sign ups from the office and EVERYONE finished…
As a result we are already signing up for other events: swim, bike, run separately and when the new season comes around more women’s triathlons!
And this coming weekend… a colleague and friend who played support crew for our Triathlon girls will be finishing a tri!!! After watching the race decided he wanted to give a triathlon a try – he said he couldn’t swim so 3 times a week I’ve been working with him… and he can swim pretty well with a bit of practice. And… on Sunday I will be once again racing with someone who I have been through the process with from commitment to finishing! (and someone who will beat my race time spectacularly!)
I never would have been able to help these people discover the sport without BT… Throughout my journey in this sport, my adventure to the other side of chronic illness and injury, my road back to fitness, health over the last 4 years…through all of this I have come to BT for support and to help keep my sanity.
The people here have given me advice on how to help myself and how to help others enjoy this sport. BTers don’t just participate in this sport, they share their knowledge and experiences – to anyone who has ever offered advice and support to another, Thank you!
I guess I just wanted to use my 20K post to share one of the biggest lessons for me this year (so far)… think of it as ‘Super Cats Lesson of the Day’…if you EVER get the chance to help someone else get into sport, get fit, get active or just try something new then do it! (in person or through the mentor groups/challenges on BT which are just as rewarding) It’s a great feeling and you get so much back from it, more than you could ever imagine.

PS: The Tour De France Challenge will be back for a third year in July… 4 months to go!!! (shameless promotion)
