Shorter races (sprints/olympic ) I generally eat what I normally do the night before, good dinner that is balanced with carbs/fat/protein. Morning will be what I normaly eat for breakfast, Oatmeal with milk nuts and berries. For HIM you need to put a bit more thought into it. Starting 2-3 days before a race I will eat a higer portion of carbs. Night before I always have a Subway sandwich (good results when I do, not so much when I don't ). Morning of the race, I get up about 2.5 hours before the start and have coffee and OJ and a bagel with a good amount of peanut butter on it. and lots of water. about an hr before the start I wil have a Cliff bar and begin sipping some sports drink. generally don't have more than about 3/4 of a bottle that morning. That's what seems to work for me. |
