Subject: Pre-Columbia Dinner/Meet up - maybe after too???

Figured I'd start this since we are a few weeks out.  I was wondering who? where? when? ehh what? and yes how?

Thinking of getting some grub the night before the race and if anyone would like to meet up after.

Annnnd let the discussion begin.

Before suggestions: How about that pasta / pizza place near JHUAPL?  Can't remember the name.  That would be good because it's hardly ever crowded and you order at the counter so no futzing around with splitting the bill if we have a big group.  Or... Tomato Palace or Clyde's since they're both near the Sheraton and easy to get to from packet pickup.

After:  I'd be up for anywhere with beer

Its called Pasta Blitz by the way... but I agree with that too.

After after some good solid food and a nice shower I wouldn't mind a beer or two or three

Have to wait and see, but chances are no for me.  I'll keep it on the radar and look at availability as it gets closer.

I might be in.....  I'm not doing Columbia...  but I plan on coming out to the race to cheer everyone on and take pictures.  Anywhere is fine.

Who: Everyone else on this thread + me
Where: The places vBall mentioned sound fine with me (I like the one where we don't have to futz with splitting the bill)
When: Prolly a little on the earlier side of dinner time so we have time for beers before getting to bed early for the race
What: Packet Pickup, Dinner, Beers/Water all sounds good to me
How: Um.... Do I have to answer this one too??  I think we all know how to drive, eat, and drink but if you need a refresher driving usually involves a car and a license, eating is done with a fork/knife or you can just use your hands or really just pick the plate up and eat right off the plate (if you are taking instruction from my niece), drinking involves a cup/glass of some kind and usually lots of peeing depending on how many beers you drink.... oh and driving should not be done once several beers are consumed... although, I'm no coach, but I would say lots of beers shouldn't be consumed the night before the race anyways but Daremo is going to have to confirm that one.

Is that sufficient for you CJ?

I think thats pretty suffice.  I'm sure Rick could give you a very good answer on the beers. I was thinking beers right after the race!? But mayyybe before. I agree with Traci (vball) with the little pasta place makes it a ton easier and I know the owner so your always guaranteed GREAT food!

Also congrats on the green star!  Your growing here on BT!

Not if you are one of my athletes.

But if someone is in the M35-39 field I highly encourage it as well as dancing the night away until 2 or 3 in the morning.

I know I was going to see if anyone wanted to go to Lapa Lapas Too! (right next to the pasta place we were thinking of attending) to crush some Dos XX or Coronas but if coach says no I won't do it.

I just realized when I got my last notice about the race that I'll be in the 35-39 age group this year even though I won't be 34 until December. Don't smoke me too bad Rick. I will NOT be drinking or dancing Saturday night though.

Sounds like a party to me.  Wait a beer and margaritas at like 11 am?  Oh well works for me.   I can just walk home (I live less then a 1/2 mile from there) if it gets too crazy.

Josh (jcnipper) and I would like to meet people, but we are not sure of our schedule yet.  Can we tentatively be in?  It'll be our first (tri) race, and I'm already nervous!

I may come and hang out...any place by the lake is going to be uber crowded, so the less known, the better!
