For planning purposes Kim and I are doing our Sunday (5/3) ride followed by a trip to the Desert Botanical Gardens.  We have some extra passes for those that would like to join.  This will be a shorter ride since I'm planning on the doing the metric century over on the west side on Saturday.

Link to the Gardens:  http://www.dbg.org/index.php/chihuly/eventdetail
Start time: 7:00 AM
Location:  Desert Botanical Gardens parking lot
Route:  TBD
Distance:  30 miles
Passes available:  8

Oh, Oh. I think the thread is broke. I can't see the link or anything past it, yet the thread says there are two posts. Other threads are OK on my machine (a PC). Anyone else having trouble seeing this?

What is the ride course you're thinking of taking?  I think I'd like to do a slow/unhilly ride Sunday with the group.  The botanical garden sounds like fun as well!

I'm going to throw the Mummy Mountain route out there. Excellent ride in that area and ride around 30 miles. Just an option.

Thanks Josh.  Our route for Sunday is http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=45832

Kim will get the reservations set for a group of 10 people for the 8 a.m. to noon time frame. So we have a few more spots open if anyone else wants to join in. DBG has a little cafe that we can eat at for breakfast, or of course you can bring your own munchies.

Will we need to start more like 6 to make the 8 reservation or do we not need to be there right at 8?

Kim stopped by this morning and got the tickets so we are all set.  The entry time is anytime between 8:00 and noon so we are still ok with a 7:00 am start.  The patio cafe will also be open for some snacking after the ride.

Good deal, 7AM is alot easier to swallow.

Where are we starting? At the botanical gardens lot? Can we do that? (I wouldn't know, never been).

SO EXCITED!!

The parking lot is open so we can meet there a little before 7:00.  Should be fun.

Mel, looks like there is plenty of room. I turned in eight guest passes this morning, and I see only five guests (Jen, Josh, John, Ann, Chris) on the thread so far.  Dean and I don't count because we have our own members passes.

Just an FYI -- The passes include not only the Chihuly exhibit (which is actually scattered throughout the garden) but the Butterfly Garden as well (which usually costs an extra $3.00).

We can go in any time between 8 a.m. and noon, but we need to go in as one group since all 10 tickets are under the same reservation number. You fast guys are just going to have to wait in the parking lot for us slow pokes!!!

I have already seen the Chihuly exhibit. Totally awesome! Although I thought the 4pm-8pm time slot worked great because you could see them in the light, then also at night as they had them lit up.  I will put together another ride for those not taking part in this.  You guys will love it!  AND seeing all the weird cacti they have there is cool too!

Maybe I will just do 2 loops of that then.  It's a 30 mile loop, right?
