View Member's Race Log
ST. PETERSBURG, FL

Overcast
Total Time = 2h 51m 21s
Overall Rank = 1541/
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 54/153
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4 am, coffee and a protein shake. Drove to race (45 minutes) set up in transition and then WAITED till my wave start. The first wave left at 7 am, mine left at 8:25.
Swim
  • 31m 43s
  • 1500 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

DOn't know why I was so slow. I didn't think I was going that slow. I wanted 30:00.
Lost my goggles 5 minutes before my wave started!! I found a wonderful, kind soul that let me use her extra pair.
Transition 1
  • 02m 46s
Comments:

The wetsuit took some time. I also had to put my HRM watch on and that took forever.
Bike
  • 1h 18m 44s
  • 24.8 miles
  • 18.90 mile/hr
Comments:

I am very happy with my bike time. I really pushed it and worked hard. I don't have any experience with cornering so I had to go slow, and there were alot of turns.
Transition 2
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Messed up with my shoes again. Gotta get the hang of dismounting and running in socks.
Run
  • 56m 21s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

I am very happy with my run time, although I got passed a lot. I need to work on not losing so many places during the run. This was a PB 10K time for me.
What would you do differently?:

Go into zone 4 sooner.
Post race
Event comments:

This was my first Oly. My goal was sub 3 hours, which I did. I almost made the top 3rd for my age group -missed by less than one minute.

Let's get together again sometime. I was going to do Danskin but waited too long to sign up. Do you have any other races planned locally?

Thanks for the kind words. Are you doing any other races this season near here? It would be nice to meet up again as a group. I only had a few minutes with you all!

Renee, I'm thinking about Mad Beach. I know someone else doing this one too, so I thought it might be fun. Do you know how much of the run is in the sand?

Looking at their run map, it looks like half the run is on the beach...? Yuck. I know Christine is doing Mad Dogs too.

Jessica, nice to meet you after the race, even if it was just for a minute.  Great race.  Pretty amazing time for a first oly, and a 10K PR to boot!

Great race Jessica.  This was awesome considering it was your first Oly!  I'm sorry we didn't get to meet you this weekend.  Hopefully, all the BT'rs can catch up next year.

Great race Jessica! Don't sweat the place in your AG. You went out, had fun, and beat your goal of 3 hours. Good thing about borrowing the goggles, I don't know what I'd do if that happened to me. Yikes!

It was great to meet you at the post-race keg!
