What is everyones favorite distance. (eg: sprint, oly, Iron etc.)
Mine so far is the Sprint.
I like the idea of short and fast (even though it is long and slow for me) vs the multi hours of a ironman race.
But my thoughts on this may change as I become a stronger athlete.

this is my second year of tri's. I have only done sprints, but I have a feeling that Olympic distance tris will be my favorite.

x2
Plus I love that I can bang out a sprint race and be home for lunch
i am going to try moving up to Oly distances for next season- i hope...  the swim and bike are ok, but 6 miles of running seems like a marathon to me!

70.3/HIM - long enough you have to do enough workload (training) to be good at it but short enough you can still 'race' it. I like Olys too but they hurt a freaking lot

Probably Olys. because the ride and run are long enough that I can make up decent time on the swimmers, but not so long that I can't properly train for them and blow up after going hard on the bike like in a 70.3.

But the swim is still too long in them.

i have done one HIM  and 2 oly's (and sprints), i think Oly's are my favorite.  HIM's require a lot of training. . and they are long based on my training right now.  sprints are so short - but OLY's, you can still push the whole way at a hard pace

I'd have to say HIM.  They are fun to train for and nutrition and pacing become so much more of a factor than in shorter races.

I've only done 2, but I saw a 33 minute improvement in my second.  I'm jazzed to do my third in a month!

Its a toss up between Oly's and HIM.  I like the Oly's for the short distances but racing 70.3 is my current trial.  Its a personal challenge for me to dial in the right training for the race and pacing and nutrition during the race necessary for this distance.

Olys are my favorite distance.  I excel more at endurance versus sprint races but training for a HIM takes up too much of my alloted fitness time.  I can meet my Oly goals without devoting all of my training to triathlon related workouts.

Sprints and Olys.  Sprints are painful but I seem to be able to maintain higher intensity for an hour or so than can lots of others.   Olys are fun since I can get a good lead on most of my AG in the swim and see how long I can last before the faster cyclists and runners start catching up!

I've enjoyed my two HIMs so far but haven't been particularly successful by my standards.  I like going 5-6 hours at a non-painful pace; its just that my pace is too slow...

I like the distance I can finish which means sprints for me Laughing  Though I have considered an Oly for my second year.

sprints by far, i like seeing how hard i can push and not blow up.

training load for pretty much any distance is not wildly diff for me if i want to do well, so thats not a factor.

HIM is fun, and it is growing on me, but i like racing a lot, and i cant afford to or survive doing halfs very often.

Big fan of the Half Iron so far. Training is manageable and it feels like you really accomplished something in the end.

Being very much a newbie with one Sprint Tri under my belt I definitely liked the competition of the Sprint and might enjoy the Olympic.  However, I really like training and believe I might prefer the longer distances not so much for the competition with others, but the challenge it provides me to reach goals that I orginally thought might not have been possible.

only done an Oly so far but I am planning on a sprint this summer just for fun. Also working towards a half next year and an IM in 2-3 if I liked the half enough. I have always been more of a turtle than a hare. I dont expect to podium but knowing I have finished any race is good enough for me and give me motivation to work towards for my next one (shows me my week spots etc...)

Once I have more distances and races under my belt I might have a better idea of what I like but for now Olympic is great!

Having done 8 oly's,2 HIM's and about 6 sprints. I would say OLY's are my fave. Can race them often, and train for them and still juggle work/training/relationships. I'm 3 weeks from my first Ironman (lakeplacid). The amount of volume involved just to finish is really hard to manage with work/wife time. I do appliance service for a major utility, and we are super busy now. Its been really a challange over the last month to get workouts in. I have had to prioritize workouts if work forces me to stay late. I'm a slow, but good swimmer. Been on a bike since birth. So iif I miss a workout, just make sure to get my runs in. Miss the swim/bike here and there. I have only done 1 race so far this year, a HIM. It was more of a training event. After placid, just have a HIM in NOV(Beach2batt). The last few years did 6 races from May-Aug. Kinda miss them. Whatever happenes in LP I think this may be my only attempt at the 140.3 distance.

HIM thus far, we'll see how I feel after the IM. I like longer distances in general, I like the training focus and the accomplishment is more rewarding for me. I don't care for sprints and have only done one Oly. The HIM feels like the perfect balance between manageable and challenging.

I'm a noobie. Until I started training, my favorite distance was the "Couch to 'Fridge and back". Now that I've finished my 1st Sprint Tri, that has become my new favorite distance !!!
