![]() | ![]() I am looking to buy the Garmin quick release kit. Though I don't see how I will put it on my bike because my Profile Design Airstrike aerobars take up all the space in the center of my handlebars. Is there a way to mount my forerunner on the aerobars themselves? Thanks. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You can get this, which straps to the aerobar and leaves a little round piece protruding that you can strap the garmin to: http://www.amazon.com/Profile-Design-Universal-Aerobar-Computer/dp/B000F8IXH4 will look something like this: |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I put the bike mount on my roadie so when I ride my tri bike I wear it on the underside of my wrist (using the velcro strap, not the OEM watch strap). Don't have to mess with switching it over in T2 either. |

![]() Just something to think about, quite a few people have had their Garmin launch from the quick release strap while on the bike. Mine is one that decided to eject somewhere in the brush during one of my rides. I would highly recommend putting a hair band or similar across the face of the watch and connect it to the top and bottom piece of the quick release to keep it in place. |

The UCM is the perfect thing for the Forerunner. I've had an Edge 705 and the FR 305 on there with no problems. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I had a UCM, and thought it was neat but for some reason after a few rides it would stay tight. The plastic threads weren't getting the job done. I ended up using some black PVC/zip ties to make a "bridge" between my aerobars. ![]() |

Mine is difficult to get out of the quick release. I'm not sure how it could launch. Maybe they changed the design? |

Is your strap new-ish? If it doesn't move at all it's probably okay, it was when I went to a new bike and it bounced a bit that I started having issues. Might have loosened up from use and gotten weaker in the hold. Dunno. All I know is I no longer have the Garmin. |

![]() | ![]() Thanks for all the replies. I think I will get the 35mm UCM as long as its not too small? |

All I know is I no longer have the Garmin.Maybe we are talking about two different things. They make two mounts... One is made to strap the watch (with original plastic strap) around. The other replaces the plastic strap with a new velcro/fabric strap. You have a separate mount for the bike. The watch then pops off the bike mount and then onto the velcro wrist mount. To get the watch off the mount takes a good bit of force. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=8544&ra=true In T2 I just pop it off the bike and slap it onto the receiver on my wrist. I wish I had just left the original band on it but I sweat enough that I was shorting out the thing apparently and turning it off during runs. I'd rather take a couple seconds taking off the band from my bike than have another $150 item launch itself into never-never land again. |

Garmin was nice enough to replace it under warranty. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt and blame operator error, that somehow I didn't get it in there all the way. Still, I haven't used it since, mainly because i haven't mounted it on my new P2 yet. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wow, surprising. Like I said, on mine it's takes a good deal of force to bend back the release tab to get it to come out. I'm not sure how it would ever pop out unless I did not lock it down securely (which considering how much force it takes to snap into place I could see being a possibility) |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I really like my set up, using a small amount of pvc pipe and zip ties between the aerobars to provide a place to put the bike mount on the 305. The only issue I had is that after a couple of years and thousands of miles of vibration on the bike, the face plate of the watch actually separated from the base of the watch. I had half the watch still clamped in the bike mount as the face plate bounced along the road. Garmin customer service was great though. They took my old watch and replaced it with a refurbished one at no cost. The "new" one now has about a thousand miles on it and still going strong. |

Give it some time and check back with how much force it takes in about 6-8 months. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I could not get mine set up in a good position with the aero bottle either. I ended up mounting it on the stem just using some criss-crossed zip-ties. Someone over on ST had some good pics of how they did it, but I cannot find it now. It was a simple, nearly free solution to the problem. I need to look down slightly to look at it while riding, but nothing major. FYI, I also find it takes some effort to snap it out of the bike mount and it has never flown off wihle riding, but based on what others have said it may be a good idea to put some tape on there. |

Give it some time and check back with how much force it takes in about 6-8 months. I've had mine for 2 years, and still struggle to get it off. I've read about this issue enough that I always make sure it's locked in, but I can't see how it could ever come off by itself. I've often wondered if people don't change the pins on the garmin (per the instructions) and just leave the original watch strap pins in, which may not allow it to lock in as well. Or some mounts are just better than others, and perhaps its just a matter of time, but until mine starts to come off without a fight, I'm not going to worry about it. FishHog |

For the first couple months it was a bit of a struggle to get it off then it got easier and finally started launching while on the bike. I was looking at ways to strap it down so it wouldn't do what it did but it had only fallen off twice so I thought it was me just not locking it on tight. The third time was apparently the charm. |
