I honestly don't believe chicks dig scars.  If so they'd be falling all over me because I have one from below my belly button to the bottom of my chest and then they are all around my body (should see my knuckles from years of hard labor).

I do like walking around my pool or gym locker room and getting stares.

Interestingly enough, that won't look nearly as bad as you think when all is said and done in a few months... The staples (and sutures too, if you use them) bunch the skin up a bit as you can see in the pic.

Staples or some type of removable suture as opposed to the under-the-skin absorbables are by far the best choice on the shoulder...

Heal up fast.

Probably should have thrown in "most" because I don't mind a girl with a scar or blemeshes myself (but "most" guys do).  When I see a perfect girl with perfect skin, perfect hair, perfect everything all I can think of is how boring she must be.  Mainly becuause that is a girl/woman who has been sheltered her entire life and I'm pretty sure she wants to maintain that lifestyle.

Here is one of my scars...

To the OP:  When the staples come out, that is a weird feeling, and then you spend the next few days worrying if you sneeze too hard that you'll bust open (or move your arm too fast in your case).  Don't worry, it'll be cool.

Ouch! What happened to you? I am assuming broken collarbone? FWIW, I have a very similar scar, although they used glue on me, so no staple scars. It's probably 6 inches long but really not that noticeable anymore. I consider it my battle scar/badge of honor.

I also had a titanium plate & 14 screws. They did bother me a little - couldn't do most overhead activities, freestyle swimming, or lay on my right side without pain until the metal came out. Then no problem. I know of at least one other person on this site that had a similar experience. Hope you heal up quickly!

not a chick but my experience is they do, wouldn't want to date one that didn't dig them.. because I have quite a few.

I'd actually be psyched if I ended up with an injury that  resulted in some of the staples in this thread, only thing that would make me feel better about the injury itself (not that I want to get hurt).

good luck with the recovery

OOUWCH!  Hope you got a bottle of the strong meds for that!

Based on the replies it seems there should be a "2009 Sutures & Scars Race & Training" thread...

Although I admit, 3 days after surgery I have almost 0 pain.

Some of you guys put me to shame!

I had heart surgery eight years ago and have a 8" main scar, plus a couple of 1" scars below it from the drain tubes. I was initially very self conscious about them, and had to force myself to even look at them in the mirror.  Used to get some stares from other folks in the locker room and at the pool.  But over the years they have faded significantly to the point where most people don't even notice them anymore.

Scars make you hot, or at least I hope they do since I've gathered quite a collection over the past couple years including a nice fresh one on my right arm this week. If you aren't doing anything to cause scars you aren't doing anything interesting and any girl that's put off by a scar isn't worth your time!

This is melanoma (the size of a pencil eraser) located in my upper chest area.  The Doctor removed it during my first visit but had to remove more tissue later as it had spread beyond the surgical border.  Take my advice, do not mess around with Melanoma. Over 7,000 people each year do not recover from melanoma.

Protect yourself with sunscreen at all times, no excuses.  OK!
