New user![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() i would be very careful about buying a bike on ebay. i have seen lots of them that were scams. at least 8 or 9 felt bikes. Plus I would want to take a used bike for a test ride and have a mechanic look it over. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You could always check other auctions for 2005 Felt S32s in similar condition. I'm no expert, but I would think something in the $700-$800 range would be fair. And yes, they make bike frames in even and odd sizes. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I bought this exact same style and size Felt S32 from eBay approximately 3 years ago. Had exactly the same components as listed in this auction. I paid $700 then, I think shipping was around $50. I actually had won an auction for a Felt B12 for around $1000 right before I bought the S32. It turned out to be a giant scam and thankfully eBay somehow caught it and cancelled the auction before I paid. Because I was a bit gunshy after that, I asked the seller of the S32 to use an eBay/Paypal recommended escrow service. He was pissy about it at first, but eventually agreed. Only cost about $30 and was well worth it. I sent them the money, which they held until I got the bike and made sure it was OK, then I released the money to the seller. Also, as someone alluded to, I would try to go to a local Felt dealer and take a quick spin on an S32 that is the same size, just to make sure it fits. I'm 6'1" and 213lbs and mine is a tiny bit too small. From the height you list, it sounds like it would probably fit but if it is within your power I'd try to make sure. Good luck! |

![]() | ![]() thanks for all the feedback! I would love to buy a local bike (Orange County)...but I want to start training ASAP and there really is no guarantee a good bike for my price range will pop up in this area sometime soon. Thats why I'm going through eBay. As far as the scams, I thought that eBay/Paypal insures the majority of transactions made through them....i may be wrong. I sent an initial offer of $650. I'm guessing he'll ask for more so let the bargaining begin! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() For what its worth I bought a 2005 Felt S25 used in superb condition for $800 through craigslist. As others have said just make sure you protect yourself and don't get taken. If its a real deal and in good shape you will love the bike! Edited by blindman10 2009-08-06 12:03 AM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Personally I would try to find an 06+ S32. Everything from now on will be 10spd. I bought an 06 2 years ago for $1,100. Great bike by the way, but Felts sizing is very difficult to guesstimate, so personally I'd want to sit on the bike b4 purchasing. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() sure is a popular used bike.... i got a 2005 S32 a few weeks ago in the classifieds on slowtwitch.com. awesome condition and pretty low milage. paid 700 including shipping. seller threw in pedals, extra crank set, and extra cassette. i was pretty nervous about buying it (only pics) cuase i've read a bunch of horror stories, but i couldn't be happier. bike was exactly as described and even used paypal for payment. my only 2 words of caution....1) every used bike i looked at had "only 500 miles" on it. and i looked at a lot of bikes. i don't know if this is the point in which everyone upgrades, or if eveyone is full of chit and just says that to attract people. 2) felts seem to favor a longer torso'd person. check with a LBS that sells felts and get them to size you first. mines a bit long for me but workable considering the $ spent. offer 650 and you pay shipping. shipping on mine was about 50-60 bucks. goolge 2005 Felt S32 and you might find some ammo to send him that shows what others have sold for. anthony |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Not sure about the sizing. I have a 2007 Felt S32 in a 54cm and I'm 5'10" also, and it definitely doesn't feel small for me. I know the 2005 is different than the 2007 but something to consider. |
![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think that sizing could def be an issue, as Felt (I believe) has changed the geometry of their bikes significantly since 2005. I have a 2006 S22 56cm, and if I could do things over I would have bought the 54, or a different bike (I'm 5'10"). I'm not totally displeased, just wiser about fit and comfort. I would imagine that the '05 S32 is going to have a rather shallow seat angle so you're more spread out when down in the aero position. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I wouldn't offer more than $500 or so on that bike. I paid $999 for my '06 S32 brand new. I'm 5'8" on a 54cm '06 S32. I love my bike. I probably could also fit on a 52, but the 54 doesn't cramp me, and I have room to adjust position. And I call BS on any bike listed with "only 500 miles". I've got over 6k on my S32 since January '07. I love riding it!! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Coaching member | ![]() I was going to say $500. I wouldn't go up a lot more from what you offered now. I bought a full carbon Felt B2 with an extra set of race wheels (Zipp 303) for $1500 on ebay. If you're going to get close to $1000, you may as well start looking at carbon. I agree on going and riding that size in a felt if a shop around you has one. I have a short torso and mine fits me great in the forward seatpost position. |

Even if it's a great deal... if the bike doesn't fit you, it will be a poor purchase. Do you know if the bike will fit you???? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Coaching member | ![]() WHOOPS correction!! I meant $2500 for the B2 and Zipp wheels on ebay. Apparently my mind is trying to compensate for the horror and guilt of spending more on a tri bike than I spent on a MOTORCYCLE when I was younger. Sorry about that! |

![]() | ![]() I am new to cycling and triathlon but have a general idea about my size. I am 6'1" 190lb. I had a basic sizing done at a local bike shop and they recommended 58 for a road bike and 56 for a tri bike. They said the smaller size for the tri bike allows a rider to get into a more powerful position on the aero bars for riding/racing. I had the question about the 57 because I hadn't seen or heard of the Felt S32 coming in odd sizes so I thought it was possibly a mistake by the seller or a scammer that doesn't know what they were talking about. And I would love to get out there and try the used bike I will purchase because everyone has told me that every bike fits different and its best to "ride before you buy." I'm hoping for a good deal and bike to pop up in SoCal but if not i don't think I can afford to buy from a LBS. |

From their website: Sizes: 650c x 48 & 50cm, 700c x 52, 54, 56, 58, 60cm http://www.feltracing.com/09-catalog/time-trial-triathlon/tt-tri-series/09-s32.aspx Also, if it's a 2005, it can't be a 57. Look at this link, and scroll to page 34 of 35. http://www.feltracing.com/manuals/05Road_Cat.pdf It shows the same sizes as shown above. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I bought a brand new 2005 S32, at the end of 2005, for $900. On sizing, I'm also pretty confident that Felt does even numbers. Mine was a 54cm, which turned out to be a little small for me (6 feet tall). |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() As others have stated, the 05-06 S32/S22 had frame sizes of ...,54-56-58,I bought an 06 S22 and looked at the S32 beforehand. These frames had a longer top tube than the current frame geometry that came out in 07 and other manufacture frames at the time. I learned this from my pre-purchase fitting as it turned out that with my long torso 5'10" body the S32/22 56cm was perfect my size. Have you looked into any of the on-line retailers? Motobecane has a 20 spd Ultegra level TB for $1000. Also keep checking the BT classified or check over on Slowtwitch. There was just a nice S32 56cm bike for $800 OBO on BT that just sold 2 weeks ago. |
![]() ![]() |
![]() | ![]() I have looked at multiple online retailers. How does the Montebecane stack up to a S32, Dual, Kilo, Aloha, etc. Better? Worse? About the same? These bikes are the ones that i've been shopping around for. I really like the dual but it is still pricey even used...i really like the 08 kilo but haven't seen one for sale yet...and S32 and Aloha both seem to be very solid bikes from what i've heard/read. Thanks again for all the help. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Out of curiousity I sent the guy selling on ebay a message asking about the size...this was the response- "Sorry, my bad. I have an Orbea which is 57, this Felt is 58. Typo." Edited by blindman10 2009-08-07 2:46 PM |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just wanted to also mention as others have, be sure its going to fit you. I'm 5'11" and my Felt S25 is a 54cm, but as you've seen on here, everyone rides a difference size and your height is not the only factor to consider in fitting. Just because it is a good deal, doesn't make it the right one! Edited by blindman10 2009-08-07 4:48 PM |
