What does everyone else have trouble giving up?

candy, beer, and fatty foods.

Sure a few weeks out from a race I cut back but at the end of the day I still love things that people would consider bad for you.

Sounds kind of weird and paradoxical (but that's my life right now). Seems like I'm not willing to give up investing so much in others in order to carve out time to train. (Taking care of sick old crazy parents)

Need to kick-start myself in the azz and take care of myself and give myself the time to train.

Recently decided to stop drinking at home with dinner beer or wine unless its a nice meal that calls for it. So gave that up quite easily actually once I Was training

But wings I cannot give up wings I will not give up wings. I've contemplated giving up the fries and blue cheese but I mostly eat the wings as a means to get blue cheese dressing into my body and I use the fries for the same so that's not happening. But I cut back to going every 2-3 weeks not every week and on occasion just grabbing some from the grocery store which saves teh calories of fries.

Ice cream.  We always have at least 2 cartons in the freezer.  If I could kick ice cream, my run paces would drop like a rock, my swim would improve, and my bike would fly.

But I love ice cream too much

Much as I try, I have not been able to give up Wetzel Bitz. Wetzel's Pretzels are a mall food and they make their pretzels in sorta pretzel sticks. The key is that they toss them in melted butter and then salt them. Oops. I just drooled on the keyboard.

Never give up beer. It's all natural and good for you!

Chocolate and watching TV shows with hubby and friends in the evenings.  We meet up several times a week to go through a show from episode 1 all the way through to the last episode of the last season and then start over with a new show.

My other hobbies / activities.
The tri-related activities are at pretty low positions of my priority list.

Work (full time job) > errands (I live by myself, there are things that must be taken care of) > study (part time, although not a requirement, it's going to help my career) > music (hobby, I would so want to put it on the top of the list) > social life (keeping my sanity) > swim/bike/run.

I don't think I have given anything up except overindulgence.
I feel VERY strongly that beer, chocolate and even the occasional wing in blue cheese should still be part of my life.
I gave up drinking more than 2 beers, eating the whole candy bar, putting chocolate sauce on the ice cream.
Gotta enjoy what you are going to become to get there.

A cold beer at the end of the day.  (Especially since it's hot and summery - that may change once the weather cools.)

I don't think we should give up stuff we enjoy for this sport.

Now, I have changed my life some to accommodate the training... but I try to still have fun when the offer arises.

I love going to clubs to see DJ's when they come to town. Now I can't go see ALL of them because I have to ride or run on the weekends. I signed up for a HIM at the end of the season (2nd one) and thus I need to get my training in.

BUT when there is one in town that I love, I will move my training schedule around so I can go see him/her. I stay out late, drink it up and have a fabulous time.

Just this week I wanted to go to happy hour after work. So I made sure to get my swim in before work. Just a trade off.

Last year I gave up a lot for Ironman training and it jaded me towards being completely consumed by it. This year I'm taking it "easy" and focusing on enjoying life and training.
