Or how about an "Acquaintances" area, too, instead of extending the number of friends list, for those "occasional" friends that inspire?

I'm right at the 100 friend limit.  If I want to open my blog up to someone else I have to boot someone off.   And I've definitely culled out just about everyone I can.

Your list, especially if you have avatars displayed, is pretty long.  Before we just keep adding in increments of 20, what if we brought some type of tabbed alphabetical thing to that sections:

Friends  +
A-I, J-R, R-Z

It will default to A-I, make the list shorter (loads faster without ALL avatars at once).

Good idea?  Bad?

That would be cool.  I also wonder if you could make tiny thumbnails out of the avatars?  Enough to see and recognize someone quickly, but not take so much time to load?

Good idea for Jen, maybe not such a great idea for everyone else.  I have around 40 or so, and having them split up into sections would be a little annoying.  It would be a good idea as a customizable option, but not the default, imo.

I should have mentioned, it would only apply if you hit some threshold somewhere between 60 and 100.
